Hi,
I've started doing some research. Im hoping to take out private health care. I've read that if i had a condition more than 5 years ago they will not be classed as an exclusion. Does anyone have any information on this?
With reference to the conditions. Ive been to the doctors on the nhs more than 5 years ago for a few things.
They were diagnosed but I've since not been back about them. Will these be classed as exclusions. Most were more than 10 years ago actually.
Mild Asthma
Carpel tunnel syndrome in wrist
Loss of space under the knee cap
Disc deteriation L3 L4
Dizzy spells when standing
Tinnitus
Thanks

I'm guessing you mean Private Medical Insurance, ie paying for you to a private doctor etc, rather than Permanent Health Insurance which is a form of income protection if you are too ill to work?
Each PMI provider has their own set of rules and definitions of pre-existing conditions. Some will offer a moratorium where if you've had no symptoms, no medication and not seen a doctor in X years they'll cover it. Some chronic conditions they'll never cover once you've had it.
Ultimately you either need to contact insurers for quotes or speak to a PMI broker. Either will be able to advise on the stance on your previous conditions.
The "dizziness when standing" however is a symptom not a condition... was the cause not identified? Insurers dont like undiagnosed conditions.0
