Unusual ownership arrangements

What is the best way to get building & contents insurance when my daughter pays the mortgage & I paid the deposit on our home with a legally declared right to live here for my lifetime. My daughter has since moved to a different property - the tick boxes suggest this is a second home for her  but we are neither tenants or mortgage holders. Any helpful suggestions?

Who's named on the deeds? Who's living there at the moment?

Sounds like you are a beneficial owner at least.

Thanks for responses - turns out property almost uninsurable as part stone & part timber clad timber framed.

There are very few properties that are uninsurable, though plenty that the mainstream direct insurers dont want but there are brokers and specialists that will cover non-standard construction. If the insurance is affordable or economical is a seperate matter.

The property wouldn't have been mortgageable if it wasn't insurable. Have there been post-purchase alterations?

I went to Intelligent Insurance who were really helpful - happy to cover all quirks & gave a competitive price for cover required.
