Vitality : reviews?

Hi all,
Thinking about getting life insurance with Vitality for OH and myself. Having compared several quotes, Vitality is slightly more expensive, but not by much, and I like the idea of the rewards and getting something back for the ~£40 per month that (hopefully) we will never actually use.
Does anyone have a policy with them, and can comment on the service and the rewards? OH both have fitbits and track 10,000+ steps per day, so it looks like we would be eligible for things like the cinema tickets, and cheaper gym memberships etc.
Thanks!

I think their rewards system is a gimmick, you'd have to pretty much go to the gym every day to stand a chance of getting that free cinema ticket, I don't bother, have their life insurance and health insurance anyways."It is prudent when shopping for something important, not to limit yourself to Pound land/Estate Agents"

I prefer not to use them as it requires you to meet standards and inevitably, best intentions do not always get continued.
There is no need to link your insurances to things like this. Play it safe and get a gimmick free option.0 -
As above, their freebies aren't contractually guaranteed and they've recently made it far harder to earn the free coffees, cinema tickets and cashback. Their cheaper premium options, which are normally only slightly cheaper than other companies offerings, are typically "optimised" versions which means you have to either engage with the Vitality programme or have an annual medical to keep the premiums the same.
They've taken an easy to understand contract and made it nigh on impossible to decipher0 -
I have Vitality and the rewards seem to be fairly easy.
If you do 10,000 steps in a day, you get five points. 12,500 gets you eight points. 7,000 for three points. You can earn up to 40 points a week...to get both a free cinema ticket and a free Starbucks (one a week) you only need 12 points.
You can also get points for using meditation apps, doing Parkrun, doing 30 minutes of exercise and a few other methods.
The cinema reward has recently been reduced so you can only use it once in two weeks...and you have to earn 12 points for the two consecutive weeks to get a ticket for the next two week period (if that makes sense?) but still seems to be a decent deal.
There are also fairly decent money-off rewards that come and go. And (assuming they still offer it) up to £250 cashback a year for hitting Platinum level.
For me and my OH, 100% not a gimmick.0 -

What happens if you suffer an event that prevents you from being able to achieve those targets?
All that work to pay more than a conventional life assurance doesn't seem like a good thing.0 -

They still only give a 70yr old the same number of points for achieving 10,000 steps. I've said this to clients. What if you can't do that at 70, especially on one of the Optimised premiums, it'll get more and more expensive......0 -

Fair point - obviously any major life event could have any number of things re-assessed. As far as my contract works with Vitality when I started (can't comment if this is the same for new members or not) the Rewards come at an additional cost of £4 a month which also enables discounts on Premium increases for the future years depending on meeting activity goals. That portion can be cancelled.
At the moment, though, the £4 a month is easily made back and then some in the cost of cinema trips, free coffee and other misc discounts.
For me, for now, it works very well. Not suggesting that's the same for everyone or will always be the case for us. I don't think there's any reason to be particularly put off by it.They still only give a 70yr old the same number of points for achieving 10,000 steps.
I can't post links because I am new but if you Google "Vitality Activity Tracking" you should be able to get to the page where it's detailed.0 -
I usually recommend the cheaper/standard life assurance quotes. They can spend the difference in premium on coffee/cinema instead! The premiums for the policies I usually recommend are guaranteed not to increase no matter whether you go to the gym or not!I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). Has anyone on here bought Vitality Life cover, not via third party?
I'm wanting to sign up and they have £50 voucher referral offer, but none of my contacts who have it are eligible
You would get £50 Amazon/John Lewis voucher, PM me if you want to try
T&Cs here:

There is a Sub forum for such referrals, please use that in order not to clog up the OP"It is prudent when shopping for something important, not to limit yourself to Pound land/Estate Agents"
