Life Assurance early 80's minimise future tax bill
Is it possible to take out a whole term life assurance to minimise a future tax bill when someone has passed the age of 80. If so would you be able to take out a 7 year plan (to cover until they are 90).I have my doubts this is possible. The life assurance would be written in trust so as not to add to the estate. Thanks

Life insurance options - new baby
Hi all, I've checked the MSE post but I'm still struggling to figure out which policy to get. I would appreciate suggestions. Things to consider: -We are not married (planning to in next 4-5 years) -We have one child who is 14weeks old -We both own flats that we do not live in (my partner has a mortgage, I don't) -We rent…

Travel Insurance medical claim denied by AXA
A few months back my son travelled to Spain and whilst there needed to seek medical assistance for tachycardia. He's never had this previously. It cost him about £400 for the medical bill. Travel insurance was in place for the trip and there was no reason to declare any previous or current medical conditions. The claim has…

Travel Insurance While Waiting for a Medical Test
Hi, I am waiting for an MRI for tennis elbow, an innocent enough medical problem, but I am finding it hard to find travel insurance. The furthest I got was with StaySure but I am going on a boating holiday and they required us to wear life jackets 24 hours a day, even while in bed, which I didn't want to do. I am also…

home insurance not in continuous occupation
My daughter has her own house and a normal house insurance policy.Unfortunately she is currently suffering with a bad back and mental health issues, so she is living with us at present. Once a month, she goes to stay overnight to meet the requirement of the house not being unoccupied for more than 30 days. Does this meet…

Am I Covered Until I Change Cars?
I am about to collect my new car on Monday and requested a change of vehicle in my policy. I find the following statement in the online application a bit ambiguous. On 16/12/2024 only, your current vehicle will be covered until you get your new one. If you still need cover for your JAGUAR, F-PACE, we may be able to offer…

New driver insurance so mad..
My daughter is 17, doing A levels and works part time in Supermarket, and just passed her test, so we are looking to get her a cheap car. We were expecting the insurance to be about the 1500-2k mark to begin with based on what her friends parents have told us, but we have been getting quotes today and they are wild, like…

Health insurance - but pre-existing condition
Thinking of starting a new personal health insurance policy, but aware these guys will all likely do anything they can to avoid authorising claims in the future. Obviously pre-existing conditions are not covered, and I was diagnosed by my doc last year with diastolic hypertension (high blood pressure). It was only…

Motor Insurance Exclusion clause
I was scrolling through my motor insurance certificate the other day (for no particular reason, obviously nothing better to do) but was intrigued with one of the usage exclusions. The relevant section says: Use for social, domestic and pleasure purposes (including commuting) EXCLUSIONS Use for any business purposes, any…

Annual start date after first day of travel
Hi there - we travel to Europe regularly and normally have annual travel insurance. As the Easter holidays are closer together in 2025 and 2026 there is a potential to squeeze two Easter holidays into one policy. But the catch would be it stats from 5th April 2025 and end 5th April 2026 but we would be travelling on the…

Cancelled insurance
I'm in the process of finding a new Home Insurance company. I've hit a problem with the "has anyone had a policy cancelled etc?" I had a car policy cancelled a few years ago as I didn't get the proof of no claims to them in time as I was away on a long holiday. On my return I had 3 letters with the final one saying they…

Car Insurance for EU Visitor
Does anyone have any recent experience of putting a visitor from the EU onto their own car insurance for a temporary period? I was hit by a moped at the rear of my car. I contacted my insurance company Marshmellow with who I have legal cover. My NCB is protected.
