Company Van - Employee excess insurance

My wife works for a firm that supply her with van.  In her employment contract she is liable for up to the excess amount (£1000) for any damage incurred.  Are there any insurance providers that will provide her an excess policy?  When we have hired vehicles ourselves, we have taken such policies out but she hasn't hired the van, and the insurance policy on the vehicle is through her employer so I don't think we can use a hire car excess policy provider.  If she were to have an accident, £1000 is a lot of money to have to repay, she would much rather spend a set amount each month for piece of mind.  I imagine there are plenty of other people in a similar position, so assumed there are providers out there but having difficulty finding them (not sure what to search for)

I'm not aware of anything out there. Excess insurance had a moment about 13 years ago with various different forms existing, whilst Hire Car Excess is still very much a thing most of the others fell away. There are still a few doing car excess insurance, independent to the aggregator that gives it for free, many are with a company I wouldnt want a policy from and the few others wouldnt cover an employers van. 

Unfortunately it's probably just too niche for anyone to have made the effort to write a policy for.

Does she need the van. Personally I would be seeking to have that excess reduced/removed does the actual insurance policy have that excess?

Alternative is use own transport if possible but I wouldn't be happy with that contractual term.
