NON Medical Holiday Insurance

I know this will be a niche market but I'm looking for Holiday Insurance that DOES NOT cover Medical Insurance.

As a Diving Instructor I purchase medical insurance through Divers Alert Network which provides me and the family with specialist Diving and non Diving Medical Insurance.

I therefore need cover for all other Travel related elements, flight cancellation, holiday cancellation, baggage loss, theft etc... I'm not sure if this is available in the UK, but have founds similar US based policies and UK only policies where obviously the NHS provides this type of cover.

UK only policies will factor in more than just no medical cover whilst on holiday. 

You say you need no medical cover but do you need cover for cancellation due to a medical issue before travelling? 

It's not a readily available product in the UK. There will always be ones that are tailored for a niche market but then they have no competition to push prices down and so can end up being more expensive than just buying a standard policy. 

Do general quotes, they are likely to be your cheapest option. 

You could look at an insurer that doesn't give pre-existing illness cover which will be cheaper if you've had cancer or such but those pre-existing conditions will also be excluded for cancellation before travel.

You could look at buying from an overseas insurer but make sure you meet their residency requirements and be aware you dont have protection from the Financial Ombudsman or FSCS

Thanks for this, I understand. I would have thought that the Medical cover would have been a reasonable chunk of a Annual Multi Trip holiday, but understand that insurance brokers, rather than the actual insurers, cannot be bothered in offering niche products.

As a Diving Instructor, now with a child who is starting diving in the ocean after qualification, I prefer to use the best diving medical cover agency who will react with experience and efficiency in the unlikelihood of an incident rather than the "bolt on" Travel Insurance products my wife and I have used when diving on our own during my non instructing years.

For Travel insurance claims represents about 32% of the price paid. Medical Emergency represents 30% of claims. 

So its about 9.6% of the total value that would be saved by removing medical emergency overseas however you need to add on the cost of marketing a niche product, maintaining different documents, training to staff etc etc. Having a niche product typically increases prices by more than 10% which would make it more expensive than having bought a standard policy and just not use the medical emergency cover.
