Gravity CH system - one rad is getting incredibly hot?!
With the boiler set for hot water only, the radiator in the bathroom is getting incredibly hot, and there appears to be less heat going into the hot water tank coil. With this, there is lots of banging and air noise going on. Do you have any thoughts on this? The expansion tank in the loft is normal. Could this be a…

Window ledge fell apart
Any idea on the most cost effective solution to repair this? I really hope we don’t have to replace the whole ledge as this window is brand new and I’d assume it would have to come out.

Adopting driveway
When we moved into our house the solicitor said the bottom end of our driveway didn't belong to anyone, but the houses on the left and right of the drive had access to their back gardens over it. He suggested we claim the land for ourselves but I can't remember how he said to do it. He said it would cost £45 to put in the…

Options for boiler update
Just looking for some options here. Third floor apartment, currently have an outdated Potterton Powermax HE 85L boiler (Essentially an unvented 85L tank with a 'system' boiler all in one box - I think?) Installed 2006. BG (Yes I know) have advised it is obsolete / limited parts available, & I've been thinking of upgrading…

There are Bosch models too which look decent enough (£600-£800 range) I was all set to buy, then a neighbour mentioned Argos .. I see there are…

Council want £2,000 Ukraine 'Thank You' payments back.
We took part in the government's Homes4Ukraine scheme and sponsored a Ukrainian refugee twice. I won't go into any of the problems we had to deal with, but will simply say the ordeal wasn't worth it and we really regret taking part. Anyway, that was almost 2½ years ago and we thought it was all behind us. But now the…

Why do builder's merchants hide their prices behind 'POA' and make you 'ring for a quote'?
I find that such a childish psychological trick. As if hiding it will suddenly make you buy it when you speak to them on the phone. Also it makes more pointless work for them I presume as they have to write up quotes for everything which could otherwise be calculated by the user online.

Hi folks, I am installing a new oil condensing oil boiler, in the boiler house shortly for central heating and considering either the Grant Vortex or a Warmflow condensing boiler, not concerned too much about instant hot water to tap.
