Gas boiler service and gas hob
Apologies if this is posted in wrong place. My neighbour installed gas central heating at his house. He had a gas hob that was running on a yellow bottled gas. He was told this wasn’t legal so he got the installer to connect the hob to natural gas. The annual service has just been done and the engineer charged him for the…

Replacement Windows - New Lintel (Who will do the work?)
Hi, I'm in the process of buying a 1920s terrace house that requires a bit of work to it. Double Glazing - water seeping in
Hi, we have very old double glazing (probably around 15-20 years). Many of the sealed units have failed (condensation inside). Around one of the units which doesn't look too bad (not much condensation) we've noticed that rain water is now seeping in somehow and collecting on the inner windowsill. Is there a way we can…

Smart heating controls
We have 2 boilers in our 35 year old house as half of the upper floor is given over to a "granny flat" of some 70sq m that my Mum occupied. She wanted to be self contained and have control over her heating, so the CH and HW, and the electrics, in that area are totally separate from the systems in the main house. The…

Power cuts and gas boilers
I have an Ideal Logic+Combi 30 boiler and it's working fine. But I've suddenly realised that if we were to have a power cut I wouldn't know what to do about the boiler. If the boiler is on at the time the power goes off should I switch it off at the electrical wall socket, or just turn the wall thermostat dial to…

We aim to exchange the contract soon, and our solicitor came back with a water and drainage search, pointing out that a foul water line runs through the house (see the attached image). There is also a…

Hello. On a recent boiler service the British Gas engineer inspected
my gas meter which is located in my garage on the wall about 18"

I had one of those splash air freshers which automatically sprays. I believe it’s left a mark on wall. Cant for sure as I’ve had many small wet marks appear despite getting the house professionally painted in March. So I painted over the mark around six times now it’s better I can still see a faint line. Can’t really fully…
