Worcester Bosch guarantee

I have an issue with my Greenstar 30i combi which means that I cannot get any hot water as the boiler was heating up to 98'. It was installed through a Government grant in 2021. Eon-the installers-gave me a warranty of 2 yrs and on the WB website the appliance has a warranty until 2028. How-ever, I was told by WB that as I had the boiler installed under a government grant I was not entitled to the 2028 warranty which everyone else is entitled to. Surely it is the physical appliance that is under warranty and has no bearing on how or who I purchased it from as long as it was installed by a gas safe plumber. At 61 and a nurse that has to be up at 5.30 in the morning, it is getting tiresome, and unsafe, to have to boil a kettle and carry it upstairs to wash and this is now ongoing for over 2 weeks. Any ideas of what I could do next please.

Worcester boilers come with a 10 year guarantee, if fitted and serviced by a Bosch trained engineer8 years otherwisecheck here
If I was half as smart as I think I am - I'd be twice as smart as I REALLY am.0 -
Have you had the boiler serviced every year ?0

Was the boiler install registered with Worcester after the installation? Normally you get a certificate from the manufacturer confirming the registration and how long the warranty will run for. One of the conditions of the terms and conditions is:4.1.3 The Product must be registered with us within 30 days of installation;
It it wasn't registered (and you don't hold proof), then the extended warranty of five or more years does not apply.0 -
Usually boilers installed under government grants the were financially subsidised by the manufacturer and the pay off was a reduced warranty compared to a fully priced boiler which enjoy longer warranties.0

OP- Looks like you will have to pay for an engineer to come out.
Either someone local, who will probably charge you something like £100 call out charge to include maximum one hours work + cost of any parts needed.
Or you could ask WB what they would charge. They may offer a set price regardless of what problem they find, but could be £300??
Hopefully as it is only 4 years old it will not be a major thing to put right.0 -

If your boiler is showing a error code on its display panel, post that up and give a brief description of the fault someone on here may be able to help you rectify it.
On another note it is unwise and unsafe to put freshly boiled water directly into a porcelain sink as the thermal shock can crack the sink, If needs must far better to put some cold water in sink then add hot till you get a comfortable temperature.0 -
Some home insurance includes emergency boiler, electrics and plumbing cover.0
