Plusnet - refusing MSE £75 reward card
I know this has been brought up before but not for a while and unsure how they were resolved. I signed up for plusnet last year via MSE link and after a lot of emails to and fro as well as calling support, they're denying me the £75 reward card and saying I should contact MSE. Initially, they had confirmed I was due a…

FTTC Waiting List - Options?
Hi, I'm moving house and went to set up broadband no one was offering fibre (despite neighbours having it). Looking on BT wholesale checker there is a wait list for the cabinet. Normal broadband is pretty poor, with estimated speed I'd around 3-5mbps, 4g is also patchy in the area. Not ideal as I work from home. What are…

FTTP - no flexibility/ rental accom
Hi, I’ve just moved into a rental property and find out that broadband has switched from ADSL to FTTP. The only providers available to me are BT & Sky. Both only offer long term 18/24 contracts. Most people rent a property on a 12 month contract and flexibility is key either by securing services that are monthly rolling…

Virgin media question on change of account holder
Hi Can anyone advise if this is correct. If I want to change account holder with virgin media basically I want to change account to my name and also in turn get a better deal, will there be a service disruption. When I last spoke to them over 18 months ago I was told I would have to undergo credit check etc and would be…

Virgin Media Broadband price increase and moving
Hi, I have a Broadband only contract with Virgin Media until Sept 2022 and I am about to move to a new place in about a month. I've just received the letter informing me of a price increase. What's the best strategy? 1. Leave them without penalty on moving out and then signing up as a new customer from the new place? My…

Talktalk mis-selling
Been trying to get my 85 year neighbour away from talktalk for nearly three years, last time they got him into a new 18 month contract with a "free" router. Since the last i time i delt with talktalk on his behalf, they attached my mobile number for service info which was handy at the time as his telephone line was out of…

Word of Warning: Cancelling a switch to a new provider may still cancel your existing supply.
Switched from Vodafone as they told me it was time to renew when it wasn't, so I cancelled my switch. Three weeks later, Vodafone cancel my telephone and broadband. They can sign me back up but for some reason my property is no longer able to get the existing connection AND I may lose my telephone number... ***Edit*** I…

BT Broadband and Quidco
In the past you could get Quidco cash back and apply for the BT reward card when signing up for a new BT broadband service. Is this no longer the case ?

Kingston Upon Hull - Still no Broadband Competition in Hull
The last time this appears as a thread was 12 years ago on MSE. Wondering whether MSE has ever taken on /challenged/helped Kingstonians in lobbying for a fairer costing broadband provision by the city's only supplier Kingston Communications. Based on its continued monopoly across the city, it remains a significantly higher…

Not the cheapest deal EVER - MSE Shell Broadband deal is disappointing
MSE describes the Shell deal in this weeks newsletter at £12.83 but I find this really disappointing. First of all you have to wait up to 4 months for your Amazon voucher and we have often see they don't happen. I would not be routinely spending on Amazon so Ideally I prefer an account credit. The £65 Shell shop voucher is…

VPN deals? Block Youtube Ads?
I am looking at a VPN just for general privacy and security, but as a user of Youtube (free) I wondered if any of them blocked the annoying Youtube ads that we see before a Youtube video, or even through a video! This would be a double bonus if there was a secure VPN that did this for Youtube also?

Looking to get cheaper/better than BT (& poss do away with landline?). Help/advice?
Ok so with the price of absolutely everything shooting through the roof quicker than ever, we're having to have a serious look at where if necessary, we can save some cash. So on to Broadband/TV/Phone. My current deal with BT is up in April. Having a look at my account right now Broadband: Fibre 1 (£24.13) Landline: PAYG…

Virgin letter pay increase letter of £2.50 yet automated line says they give £2.50 discount
Where is this logic in this? Received letter about £2.50 increase in March ring Virgin and the automated person says offer available for £2.50 discount for 6 months. Why are they talking about a £2.50 rise and offering a £2.50 discount at the same time?

Moving from Plusnet to Now broadband
Hi, I'm thinking of moving from plusnet who I have been with for years to Now broadband as I may be moving and Now don't charge for house moves. Also the speed is faster and it is cheaper. I currently have an Openreach BT line. Does anyone know when you switch if it is a simple case of sending you a new router and away you…

BT Full Fibre 100
I am thinking of upgrading to FF but I want to keep my landline with the same number. Can I do it? I know an ONT is installed but do they leave the old socket and copper wiring? Secondly how long would I be without Internet connection? The BT site says it takes half a day
