Virgin Media Price Increase

As if by magic, the day after Martin Lewis' show mentioned it, I received the email notifying Virgin Media's price increase.
The cynic in me wonders if they rushed out the email in response to the show, in the hope that consumers that watch the show on catch up or hear the tip later will miss the email, since consumers will only be on the look out for emails going forward?
For our household, it'll be a 27% increase. We have until 9th March to respond.
Next year, they're changing to an O2 style arrangement of RPI+3.9% a year. Because it's pre notified, you'll no longer be able to cancel when in contract.

Not had nothing yet, we only have broadband.Maybe the government should ask these companies not too wack up the increases, the same as we shouldn't ask for a pay rise. Will be looking to see if we can get a deal asap1

The price rise was always coming around now they mentioned it in November when I negotiated my package down to £33 from £65, took 59 minutes to do and had to get through to disconnections to get the best price. Ive since been told I should have gone ahead with disconnecting then they would have called me back and offered an even better price but as I work from home and need a super reliable BB service (one issue in 19 years and fixed the next business day) I didn't have the minerals to gamble that hard- I know better for next time in 18 months.1
