BT Renewal - Advice for others (maybe helpful for some)
Our 24 month contract was due to expire soon, we received an email notification as such of the price we are paying, would be paying for rolling contract and offers to stay. None were appealing nor competitive so were instantly dismissed. Upon doing some research there were many better deals to be had with other suppliers…

Searching broadband deals which use existing phone line only.
How do I exclude those broadband providers which require a new set of wires brought in from the road. I want to search for deals which only utilise the current phone line I have from the pole. I've just had external wall insulation added and don't currently have a cable route through from the road, as this wasn't in my…

BT Broadband - Re-contracted but still price increase fro m31st March?
A relative has renewed their contract in the past week, thinking they'll pay the new lower monthly rate with the next rise of £3 on 31st March 2026. They've now received an email advising them of increased charges for their broadband from the end of this month - is this normal or a mistake? They wasn't any mention of there…

My landline number and broadband have been "jacked" !!
Been with Plusnet 8 yrs (rural copper), same landline for 15 yrs. Got an email that I thought was a scam but it had too much personal stuff on it , saying sorry to see you go (I just feckin renewed 2 months ago) at the end of the month as they've had notification I'm moving to another provider, which is utter BS. So I…

Virgin Media One Touch Switch Failure
I have been with Virgin Media for a while but signed up to Sky using the OTS service on 15th February 2025 and was switched on the 14 March. My contract with VM ended on 17 March, but I was happy to pay an early cancellation fee for 3 days rather than the inflated cost for being out-of-contract. I received my closing bill…

End of Virgin renewal deals?
Came to the end of my contract and have been with virgin for 25yrs! I always have to go through the “I’m leaving” routine but this time it didn’t work. I was paying £43 for 300 broadband, basic tv and phone, this being increased to £77. I got them down to £66 but said no thanks I’m leaving and left it at that, fully…

OpenReach weirdness and router doubts
So.. ISP arrange fibre upgrade for 28/1 as ADSL line is being withdrawn. Deal was unlimited data at £17.99 pm, now £24.99 Bought an upgraded router from them at £80 openReach visited for ONT install, to find the splitter had been improperly place outside our block, meaning connection would entail external drilling above…

Incorrect Broadband Charges
In December, I called BT to inform them that I was cancelling my direct debit (I was not in the contract period and was rolling month to month). I received an email from CRS (debt collectors) recently informing me that I owed BT over £160. I hadn't received any notifications from BT at this point. After multiple hour-long…

How can I get around new openreach 1 line only restrictions?
I tried to get a better deal with my provider BT but they told me that because I have 2 lines they could do nothing for me without moving to one line. And, that it would be the same if I went to any other provider that used open reach. That only leaves me Virgin. I have a household line and my husband has a line set up…

Virgin worse deals for existing customers - renewal dance time
I'm currently doing the renewing contract dance and had a polite but incredibly unhelpful CS rep on the phone. I'm currently on M250 Fibre Broadband only (no phone no TV) and due to poor speeds and drop outs and doing some work from home was interested in upgrading to a better deal My Current package is £30.46 a month…

Vodafone house move hell
2 weeks before move booked vodafone to switch over broadband. Broadband and landline package for vulnerable elderly person with council emergency alarm
Have an elderly parent who lives on her own. She is currently with Sky and is on their international extra landline package - as she has friends and…

Sky broadband, new customer
I need to renew my broadband as my contract ends soon. I just did a price comparison and sky is cheaper than renewing with my current provider. If I switch now will I get hit by a price rise in April as it will be a new contract starting in March? It would seem very unethical to do that?

Broadband for intermittent usage - 4G?
Wondering if this makes sense: ditch an existing expensive VDSL line, and replace it with a 4G modem/router on a 2GB cheap monthly data sim, then just buy a 30-day 'unlimited data' add-on when I'm actually on site? Inherited a house, but it needs a fair bit of work doing before we sell it on. I'll only be there for 3 weeks…
