Is there any way to get out of a BT contract without paying the very unreasonable penalty charges? At the moment we are about two years into a five year contract for Broadband and Cloud Voice but BT want over £2.5k to let us out of the contract.

Broadband for intermittent usage - 4G?
Wondering if this makes sense: ditch an existing expensive VDSL line, and replace it with a 4G modem/router on a 2GB cheap monthly data sim, then just buy a 30-day 'unlimited data' add-on when I'm actually on site? Inherited a house, but it needs a fair bit of work doing before we sell it on. I'll only be there for 3 weeks…

MSE Vodafone deal

Trouble with comparison sites - are any truly accurate?
Hi, I'm shopping around for replacement broadband. I'm going to comparison sites - and they are all showing fibre broadband as being available here. I'm in really rural Scotland and we don't have fibre here, only copper wiring I can't be bothered to go though the application with everyone individually to see what's…

Do I need home broadband?
My TalkTalk contract is coming up for renewal, was paying £24 a month they want to put it up to £34 increasing with inflation plus 3.7% in April. FTTC 35Mbps. Looking around at other deals it all looks a minefield with contracts which change price mid term being the norm and some with vague "price may change during…

Set-up a new provider (One Stream) 30/01/25 - activatcation date was meant to be 19/02/25. Email from current provider (Now) confirming. Gigaclear, £51pcm existing customer, only £19 for a new customer
As above, we've had Gigaclear in our village for a couple of years now and its been great. We originally signed up and had a long wait (3 years) until enough people had signed up to warrant the installation of it. Currently paying £51 pcm for a true and very reliable 300mbps. Come to the end of my contract and its still…

Gigaclear "It's extremely unlikely that the price will increase mid-contract"
Words from the rep when I placed the order in Sept last year. Well, he was right. £19 to £21. Every little helps.

Why is BT punishing me for being a loyal customer
I've been a loyal BT Broadband and landline customer for over eight years, and my contract is now up for renewal. However, the deal I’m being offered is terrible, both on BT and the new EE packages. BT won’t offer me any discounts unless I either remove my landline or get a new landline number—neither of which is an option…

TalkTalk completely unfit to supply broadband in the United Kingdom. Why can’t Ofcom hold them to ac
TalkTalk have told me that they have ‘manpower issues’ at their complaints call centre and that is why they won’t put me through. They wasted a day of my week insisting I be at my flat for OpenReach engineers so they could change my landline from analogue to digital ( VoIP). I already had fibre optic cabling and TT…

Virgin Media Broadband or FTTP
My Virgin Media contract is coming to an end and FTTP has now arrived in my street according to all the leaflets I am getting through my door. Is there any difference to the "quality?" of the internet connection between Virgin's coax cable and optical fibre? I currently get 1000Mbps download and 100Mbps upload speed.…

Landline conundrum
We still have a landline because hubby is disabled and doesnt manage well with a mobile. A few days ago I rang home and I could not hear hubby but he could hear me. This is happening whoever phones the landline. He can get a dialling tone and try to phone me but it seems you cant dial out from the landline. It is a BT line…

Plusnet increase CPI + 3.9%
I have just edited my post. Apologies - I think I misread the Plusnet email and thought my bill was increasing by 3.9%. I think it must be 3.9% and something else*: *"On 31st March 2025, the price for your Plusnet services will be increasing by £1.52 a month. This price change is in line with your current terms…
