How to switch within Sky Broadband cooling off period

Switched from BT Full Fibre 900 to supposedly equal Sky Full Fibre Gigafast last week.

A lot of lag on internet casino gaming and some slow lag on some websites, YouTube, opening emails. Never had this with BT.

Sky have said wait 14 days for "stabilisation" (not sure that will change anything!) but they allegedly looked into the network and say there are no faults (surprise, surprise... not).

There is a 31 day cooling off period. If I want to switch (either back to BT or another ISP) can I just do this via the new ISP switch process?

Has anyone done this?

Have you checked that you are getting the guaranteed minimum speeds you were advised of when you signed up?

From the results, you are only getting 409 Mbps when your guaranteed minimum speed should be 600 Mbps.

The most reliable independent speed checker is www.thinkbroadband.com Try that and see what results you get there. You can also type "speed test" into Google. That is the one that Openreach use.

Tests over WiFi are rarely a true indication, especially if other devices are connected.

The link speed between router and device can sometimes be lower than than your incoming speed.

Although the Openreach network is the same as when you had BT , the ‘backhaul’ network is now Sky and you have a Sky router , so it’s not an identical service , so no reason to expect identical performance, the acid test is if Sky just say it’s OK when you know it’s not as good as it was with BT , are they doing anything or basically saying this is how it is ?

If Sky have agreed to you leaving penalty free , you just switch again , but using the cooling off period you should check in advance as Sky may automatically raise early termination charges , so you switch then get a massive unexpected bill from Sky, you really should check in advance if leaving using cooling off as the reason , to confirm is not going to raise a big Sky bill .

TBH , the speed is relatively unimportant, it’s the poor latency that causing your gaming issues not the raw speed .

What's odd is that some gaming sites are ok/better (Sky 🤦🏼‍♀️), some not (BetFred).

As said before use lan from router to pc or laptop and that will give you correct info.

Latency, I m guessing it is the later arrival in my lounge TV freely than mt Freeveiw in the kitchen? When I leave kitchen the Tv in lounge is half a minute behind.

My BB is via Sky on BT/Openreach if in future I go over to BT fully will this gap reduce?

Wired BB not Wi-fi.
