Plusnet will move my broadband and home phone package to EE unless I decide to stay with broadband only. If I choose to have broadband and relinquish my landline will I be able to to re connect it with another provider in the future if I find I need it. (I have a patchy mobile signal)

You'll be able to order a voice-over-IP (VoIP) service from one (or more) of a large number of providers. I've got a VoIP number I've had for maybe 12 years now, in addition to my regular phone service.

You probably won't be able to get your old landline number back.

i’ve been looking into this as I am in the same situation. You can have your current landline number transferred over to a third-party Voip provider and keep your broadband separate. Or if you number completely now because you don’t keep a landline alternative, you will get a new number if you decide you want one

For me because I don’t use the landline a huge amount it also works out of fair bit cheaper than the EE offering.

The downside (although it’s coming anyway in the future) is that it won’t work if you have a power cut, I think you can pay extra for systems that will keep it going a bit longer in the end of the paragraph but if you got your mobile that’s probably not necessary.

All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

Pedant alert - it's could have not could of.

I was in a similar situation. A pity, as I had been happy with PlusNet almost since they started. As I wanted to keep my landline number I had little choice but to migrate to EE.

    .
While migrating to EE is the preferred option for Plusnet customers to keep the number, there is nothing to stop you picking somebody else who provides Digital Voice and taking the broadband with it. So its not true to say you had "little choice".

It's not been a secret that Plusnet weren't doing Digital Voice, that's been the position since 2024.

TBH , I can’t really see the problem, EE honour the price and minimum term expiration of the customer if Plusnet manage the change to EE ( because the customer has decided that the telephony service needs to be maintained ) , the underlying technology is exactly the same (Plusnet and EE being sister companies of the BT Group ) so it’s completely risk free , once the minimum term has expired the customer has the choice of remaining with EE or moving to someone else , so why the angst of the PN to EE change , its pretty insignificant.

many thanks for replies and comments. I will migrate to ee and wait until November when my contract ends to make decisions.

Be aware that if you give up your VOIP service, you won't necessarily be able to get your 'own' landline back, as it's only quarantined for 30 days.

If PN are moving your broadband and landline to EE in the next 30 days, your options are:

    1. Allow the move of broadband and what will now be VOIP (Digital Voice) to EE, so retain your LL number. Then decide in November, as you say
    2. Stay with PN for BB, and after that has happened, go to another firm for the VOIP, such as A&A, within the 30 days
    3. Move to another provider for combined BB and VOIP. I've just done that to Zen. If you're still in contract with PN / EE, you'll have an early termination fee to pay

Another option is to get a mobile phone that supports wifi calling, then it won't matter what your mobile signet is like.
