Failed fibre entry brick plate

When OR installed my fibre they used one of those plastic brick covers over the entry point with loads of silicone but I did notice it was quite warped and sure enough after many months it's finally given up the ghost and fallen off.

Is it a waste of time trying to get someone out to fix it and should I just do it myself. Where would you get these plates from?

Has the old one broken?

Could it not be screwed into place with a bit of drilling/Rawlplugging?

You can get the covers in Brown which might look better. It may even look better with the cover removed and silicon tidied up!

DIY: Your ISP is unlikely to pay to get someone out to do it "many months" later.

Can you not just re-affix it to the wall? There are holes in the corners for screws.

Thanks all. I'm getting a replacement from Screwfix tomorrow and some more clear silicone and will sort it myself.

When fixing plate be aware not to compromise the bending radius of the fibre cable, by pressing down too hard.

If I was to refit that cover I would use 3 rawplugs and screws with cup washers, leaving the bottom right hand corner free, so it did not put undue pressure on cable.

It is worth spending a bit of time to do this rather than trying to secure with silicone which will only provide a temporary fix, as you have found out.
