BT Digital Voice and line rental
My line rental contract expires soon. I have BT Digital Voice. Can I now simply abandon/cancel the line rental contract and continue to use the digital voice service using Broadband? Is there any obvious downside to this? Thanks in advance.

Impossible to keep old landline phone number - different exchange
I'm moving house just a few hundred yards away, and tried to contact a few broadband and phone providers to move from Fibre To The Cabinet, with broadband and a landline, to my new house which is Fibre To The Property. Apparently I can plug my phone into my router at the new house, and buy adapters for other phones dotted…

No broadband for 11 weeks - and counting
Why are service providers forcing customers onto full fibre fibre bb when it's actually not available. See below....not even installed by BT Openreach! Now likely to be 90+days at £6.10/day (~£550) so clearly penalty is insufficient to get BT Openreach to act quickly. Moved to new home. Could not move migrate Vodafone…

BT/EE - Phone via Broadband box connection
I have just received a new broadband router that has the phone call option with home phone adapter. It is supposed to go live for the phone from this Thursday (could take 24 hours to kick in). I set the broadband up on the day the box arrived and it works fine, I wasn’t sure if I’d need to wait until Thursday for that to…

Shell Energy Broadband
My 91 year old mother has broadband provided by Shell Energy. She has been without any access to the internet for a month, and to her landline for much of that time. Broadband and landline access was fine for years before this. Four Openreach engineers have called and there has been much confusion over how to fix - it…

WiFi From Cabinet in Street
I have been having slow broadband issues with NowBroadband for years, hardly ever getting anywhere near the 36Mbs I should get. Having looked at switching, Onestream is the only one I found that has a guaranteed minimum of more than12Mbs. After doing a postcode check with them and not switching, they called me. They said…

Virgin attempting to charge me for a router that I do not have!
Due to their disgusting customer service I gave my cancellation in to them this morning, and they are telling me that I have two routers, when I only have one. I am very careful about the equipment I have and ensure that I always return it as I am aware that they charge otherwise. I have searched my property for it…

Advice for Best Full Fibre (FTTP) product overall on Openreach
Trying to advise a friend who has got Full Fibre availability from Openreach and whose O2 Mifi contract is ending. Maybe this will help someone else also. The options HAVE to be Openreach FTTP providers. A non full fibre option is not an option. There are no other FTTP wholesale suppliers or alternative networks in the…

Sky Broadband - delays with installation?
I ordered Sky fibre ultrafast broadband 500Mb/s and have a Sky installation date for 4th June. Openreach came around to do some work on the external connection outside my house however when I contacted Sky apparantly there is more work required which is due to take place on 3rd June which could delay my installation. Is…

Plan.com and unreasonably high out of allowance data charges - Advice needed
Hey all, not sure the right approach here. My mum has a SIM with Plan.com with a 2GB allowance for £26.99 per month (aware this is shockingly poor value to begin with). I found out today that she had a recent bill that she had to pay to protect her credit and retain her services of over £1000 (£1027). The reason for the…

Hyperoptic vs Community Fibre
Hi Everyone, My broadband and telephone deal are up for renewal in the next few days, so I really need to get a move on, on sorting this (I'm a part time student so have been finishing my studies). I'm currently with Hyperoptic where I pay £22pm. I was given the option of committing to them for another 24 months at £27 or…

Can broadband providers install their infrastructure in apartments without a wayleave agreement?
Hello, Very nice to meet you all :) I live in a block of 6 apartments and I am the leaseholder (and mortgage payer) of my apartment. Last year, I came home to find ugly white boxes had been drilled to the outside all 6 apartments in the 'common parts' and an awful 9-foot white plastic strip outside my property which looks…

Anybody using or used 'Community Fibre' broadband? Too good to be true?
I got a leaflet through the door advertising their services and now they're on the comparison websites. They are in my area. Their offers e.g. 920Mb download AND upload speeds for £22.09 per month are absolutely astounding so can't help thinking there must be a catch. They literally blow the competition out of the water.…

MSE News: EE and Plusnet to refund exit fees for some customers
If you took out a broadband, landline, mobile or TV plan with EE or Plusnet since 17 June 2022 but left your contract early and got charged exit fees, you may now be due a refund. Others who are still with EE and Plusnet may also be offered the chance to leave their contracts penalty-free. It comes after the firms failed…

Moving house - need to choose new broadband
I’ve been with Youfibre for the past year but unfortunately they don’t provide broadband where I’m moving to. I’m trying to decide between sky and bt and virgin media as all 3 are available. I need a reliable connection and also a fairly fast one as the kids like to play on the Xbox and lag drives me mad. I don’t need a tv…

Niche BT/EE Broadband Related Query
Hi there, Slightly odd question - understandable if people are not able to advise, but I'm curious what people make of something I have stumbled upon, and if you think it would work. I have an existing BT Broadband contract, which I have had since August 2023. This is on a 24-month contract, set to expire August 2025.…

Cancelling Virginmedia, how about mobile broadband?
The 5g Three mobile bb offer in my area is half price for 6 months £22 pm in 24 month contract for 150 mb/s. Unlimited data and Wi-Fi calls. That is more appealing than openreach offer starting from £26 pm for 50 mb/s. I have seen advice on here that buying a second hand router and getting a sim is cheaper. Are there any…

Cost of calls package on FTTP line
We are about to get an offer from Talktalk to upgrade our present FTTC line to FTTP. The network is currently being upgraded, locally. Now - I am still within contract for another 8 months - so would expect the charge to remain the same, until the contract expires. However I am unsure what the call charges will be after…
