😎 Pleasantly surprised to get my broadband cost down from £69 to £27 a month easily after online chat asking to leave them. Was considering a move to vodaphone..…

Yes it is new contract. Do they have more flexibilty to offer better deals at start of a new month perhaps ??

I don't think so myself but there's a lot of myths about catching them at the end of the month or just as it starts as they have targets.

£69 was an horrible price, what speed is this and does it include landline as mine is coming up?

I did the same. It was £85 (1Gb line) about to go up to £95 - yes I know, I should have done something about it ages ago. I actually signed up for Vodafone for £37pm. Virgin came back and now I have a new 18 month contract, same 1Gb for £32pm, no change until 2027 and then it will be reduced.

    I was out of contract.

    April 2008 - Epiphany - At least £28K owed to 5 CC's
March 2026 - 4 years left on Mortgage. 2 credit cards, fully controlled.

Don't be fooled by getting what looks like a large discount. Shop around. Compare with other providers not with the VM standard pricing - it's meaningless for comparison purposes.

I went through the various levels of customer support and eventually was offered a worse deal by retentions than was available in the renewal section of my account. Apparently different teams handle this - who cares!? I just want your best price.

Regardless, for me, I can get a better deal with another provider, so I'll be switching.

They all do that sadly, mine is coming up for VM BB and I'll be straight with them on my first and only call that I simply don't have the time or energy to call back, so it'll either be sorted there and then or I'll switch back to Sky. Which is the same tactic I used with Sky before switching to VM. Sky's "offers" were atrocious for an existing TV/BB customer of long standing.

I personally think I've been very poorly treated by Virgin Media, we've been with them for 24 years and we're currently paying £72.50 per month for the Gig1 service (like other people have said, I should have sorted this earlier). I looked back over the last 7 years and we have paid over £5,500 (on average just under £66 per month) for their broadband service. Actually I'm quite angry with myself for not sorting this sooner. I called them and they offered to reduce it to £50 per month which I told them I was disgusted at considering that new customers can sign up for £33.99 per month month so I decided to go elsewhere.

Signed up to Vodafone 910Mb at £35 per month. I then get an "exclusive" offer from VM reducing from £72.50 to £56.50 !!! WTH? It even said it would be back up to over £86 per month after 2 years. No thanks.

Glad to say the switch from VM to Vodafone went very smoothly, up and running in a couple of hours, not bad considering the pole he had to connect us to was 3 properties away.

Now saving over £43 per month 😊
