EE scamming people with cheap BB

I was using Virgin media at a cost of £42.98 per month. I get a knock on the door from a salesman from EE. He informs me that I could get it cheaper from EE at £33.99. I went for it and I was allowed to cancel virgin media early and they would pay the cancelation fee. I am now six months into it and I have found that my EE has gone up to £58.99. When I complained, I was informed that I was getting the streaming TV for only £1 for six months. And it is going up by £22. My bill is now £25 per month more. I could have stayed with Virgin media but if I was told I would be paying £17 per month extra I would have told him to get out. This is a scam by EE. Has anyone else had this happen to them?

It seems as though 90% or more of threads with "scam" in the title aren't a scam at all, but are a result of the OP not understanding what they're signing up for.

It seems that this thread has exactly that problem.

I get a knock on the door from a salesman from EE.

There's where you went wrong. In future,tTry not to buy anything from a door to door salesman.

I am now six months into it and I have found that my EE has gone up to £58.99. When I complained, I was informed that I was getting the streaming TV for only £1 for six months.

Is this the contract you signed up to? Check your paperwork.

How long is the minimum contract term?

I never got any paperwork. I said a scam as that is what it was. He had an EE jacket. If he told me I could get the same package as I had got for less then that was wrong. Unless you use the sneaky selling of only cheaper for six months.

I have looked at EE and they say that they sell this package with the £1 TV to entice people to take up the service. That would be fine if only had broadband but he was fully aware that my package for £42.98 was both BB and TV for £48.98.

He knew that I was getting BB and TV for £48.98.

He said he could get me a cheaper deal with EE. But never said for only 5 months.

You never received any paperwork or emailed contracts? If not that should have been a huge red card surely?

Have you checked what the minimum term is for each part (presuming they are treated separately)?

Or supermarkets. I'll never understand how people fall for either.

    How did you sign up?

    Email, old fashioned paper?

You agreed to take the EE service which comes with T&Cs which should have been available to you.

Things that are different: draw & drawer, brought & bought, loose & lose, dose & does, payed & paid

I have been told that this is a 24 month package. When I asked him how long this would be, he said that it would be the same as my current provider. That was a lie as my curent package was 18 months.

He knew that I was getting BB and TV for £48.98.
He said he could get me the same deal cheaper with EE. But never said for only 6 months. This was not a good deal.

You haven’t answered the question about any information that was posted or emailed to you, which is standard practice when you sign up to a new service.

If they sent it then I must have missed it. Are you saying that voluntry signed up to a more expensive company and it is my fault. He said he could sell it cheaper and that was my fault also.

Are you saying that voluntry signed up to a more expensive company and it is my fault.

Essentially, yes. You chose this deal and it's more expensive than your previous one.

He said he could sell it cheaper ...

It was cheaper, for the first six months.

Do you have anything in writing from EE that says it would be £33.99 for the entire contract term?

If they sent it then I must have missed it.

You might be able to find some of this info in your online EE account. I'm not with EE so I can't offer any specific pointers.

I expect you'll also find there's an increase in price every March or April written into the contract that you agreed to. So it'll go up by £3-4 next spring.
