Toilet Roll Recommendations
Hi, I normally get my loo roll from Makro - usually whichever is on their offer. However, I may not have that option for a while. I’ve never seen anywhere cheaper than what I usually pay for either Cushelle/Andrex/Velvet. I’m looking for either good deals on those brands or recommendations for not so well known brands. I…

Pressure Canning
I am looking at getting a pressure canner to preserve my garden harvests and meat on sale, etc without relying on the freezer. I know some of you on this board have pressure canners, can I ask what jars you use? I've found a deal online where I can get Ball widemouth jars for £1.30 a jar, which is the best I've found so…

Weekly Flylady Thread 23rd July 2018
What is FLYLADY? Well, it's our version of the US flylady idea - but we work on the principle that housework is not fun, it's boring, can be time-consuming, is often thankless but, unfortunately, necessary. It's here on Old Style to provide the support we all need and to make the whole task easier and quicker. We also…

Spot cleaning suit jacket?
DS has just bought a cheap suit for a special occasion - dry clean only. He has worn it once and got something (probably food) on the sleeve. I am a bit nervous about washing it but it's quite a big mark. Best way to sponge clean the sleeve? Would you chuck it in the washing machine on a cold delicate wash and hope for the…

Hi, I’m looking at getting my groceries budget down and will be having some meat free meals in order to help. The only things I can think of at the moment are: (Chilli) Beans on toast and pasta with a homemade slow cooked sauce. Can anyone offer other suggestions please? Many thanks.

Multigenerational Households: Living and Future Proofing
My dear friend floss gave me the idea for this thread when I mentioned our plans for our 2 up 2 down plus bathroom 160 year old stone terraced house. Our house started it's life housing miners and their families with multiple generations squashed into the small space. While I expect many people think I'm backward thinking…

Instant Pot/Crock-Pot Express

Pasta maker
Had HM fresh pasta at a friend's recently. So I'm wondering about buying a pasta machine for myself. But I'm a CFO so not sure that it's worth it. Anyone got such a machine? What sort of quantities does it make and what do you do if you end up with too much?
