This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Morning everyone

I haven’t a clue what I’m going to do to today. I need to dust, and clean the kitchen tiles if it isn’t too hot.

The friend who I meet for coffee usually sees her daughter on a Saturday but her daughter is working today so we may meet in town for a bit of people watching. Otherwise it will be some time with my book.

Poppy Iam so sorry to hear your news, you are right to put off moving until you are recovered.

AOD pleased to hear that your shoulder is almost back to normal.

Tru I’m sorry that your aunt is trying to take over, it can be so difficult when this sort of thing happens.

Snoozer I hope that your DOH got on ok when he went to see the doctor yesterday.

Gers it sounds like your mum is starting to improve now, I hope that it continues.

Dumpling I’m sure that you will lose the weight, you sound like you really want to do it and are ready to do it.

CRANKY that is some achievement, it won’t be long before you reach your goa :). I hope that you and HT enjoyed Mamamia 2 yesterday, I would like to see that, I may see if someone would like to go with me in the next week or two.

Specky I hope the date went well, and you enjoyed your evening.

Have a god day everyone whatever you are doing.

Good morning and thank you for starting the thread Hollyharvey.

We had a little rain yesterday evening, not very much but hopefully the trees will have benefitted from some moisture in the air. None forecast for today so I have towels in the washer.

I need to do a kitchen blitz, and a bathroom mini blitz this weekend. Other than that, I am just doing what I feel like.

Morning everyone

hollyharvey - thanks for starting us off x

Hugs to those that want/need one x

Happy birthday to those with a birthday x

Cloudy and overcast and we did get some rain - but such a small amount it's not even left the ground damp, so hasn't benefitted the gardens or fields at all. No more rain forecast for the foreseeable future either, here we're forecast really hot again from today and this coming week.

DH and myself up enjoying peaceful cuppas, I woke as I was too hot, even with the bedroom window open as wide as it will go there's very little air.

Dinner last night was a naughty chinese takeaway - we went to the big orange shed shop, purchased the necessary - hoping the works to the kitchen go ok, if I'm honest I'm dreading it, as if things don't go right DH get's awkward, luckily he's going to be out most of today so won't be around but he has these ideas, I was perfectly happy with the kitchen as it was but as usual feel bulldozed into having this work done. I just hope it's going to be worth it, as it's cost money that we don't really need to have spent.

Dinner will be whatever I can cobble together, I don't have a gas hob at the moment as that's been disconnected last night ready for the work today, but do still have a working oven and microwave and gas bbq, so shouldn't be so difficult. I've got rolls and bacon to do bacon rolls at lunchtime, and there's stuff in the freezer, sausages, pork loins and burgers all fresh in the fridge so with the bbq we should ok until the gas hob can be re-connected which I'm told is possible Monday night if all the other works have gone to plan. We'll see.

Keep safe and well x

• Morning folks and thanks HOLLY. We were amongst the lucky ones yesterday and had a bit of rain through the afternoon. Not huge downpours but a gentle steady away fall. Doubt enough to improve the fields, moorland and gardens.

A poor night as usual, not helped by Mr TA having a poor night too. I just wish somebody could do something to help him with all his problems. Every one impacting on another. Life is no fun for him (or me) these days. Plus his wight continues to plummet through his inability to eat. I don't know which of his problems to worry about most. We are back at the GP Monday so will see if that brings any joy.

Meanwhile not a lot planned for today. I need to pop in town at some point for some supplies etc from Boots. Also a quick detour into Poundland for various odds and sods. Being Saturday there is no early time limit on the bus pass so I will try and get down early. I was going to say to beat the crowds but, these days, we have such a dire selection of shops left trading that it doesn't get anywhere near as busy as it used to.

I have let a mountain of paperwork, appointments etc pile up and really must sort that out today before something/somewhere gets overlooked. Everything is such an effort these days.

Lots with problems on here as usual so thinking of you all. DUMPLING I really feel the time is right now and you have your dieting head on. Good luck. GERS I hope DM improves day by day. SNOOZER I hope your DH's lump was nothing to worry about. POPPY thinking of you. CRANKY how was Mamma Mia 2? I am planning on going to see it Tuesday with DD and the girls. Youngest has watched the original film hundreds of times on DVD and never tires of it, singing along with all the songs! She is beyond excited!

Have a good day folks if you can and take care one and all xx

Hi poppy Sorry to hear your news xx

We've pulled up some more beetroot and a few carrots. There was a danger of having no carrots for meals – I kept pulling them up when they were tiny and eating them raw, I couldn't help it, they were so sweet and tasty :D There's a good supply of cucumbers and salad leaves and we're getting a handful of runner beans every day. The last of the onions have been pulled up, they're not as big as previous years but have a good flavour. I'll plait them today. We've got plenty of courgettes, my neighbour said she loves them so I told her she going to regret saying that :D

I didn't finish the cupboards yesterday, I have one left to do. I'm putting it off, it's full of tins and I need to empty it right out to sort it properly. I have a feeling that I'll get down on the floor to reach the back and won't be able to get back up again :D

The washing machine is on and I've tidied the kitchen and lounge. I've sorted some work for monday but might do it later if I'm in the mood. I'll read some more of my book later – Evita Saint or Sinner. I might search for a proper biography written by someone who just states facts, this author seems to hate her with a passion! The new season of NCIS New Orleans started last night, that's my telly viewing for today sorted :D

Morning All

Thanks for the start Holly, enjoy your day whatever you get up to, it's good to hear you are so busy.

Very overcast today but no rain forecast so the washing can go out again, one load in and I'll strip my bed in a minute.

My neighbours had some topsoil delivered yesterday and the company sent them an extra ton which of course they didn't need so it will be barrowed over here, I had to clear a strip of garden last night so it can go in. Good job there is still a skip in the front driveway!

My next door neighbour is still mumping and moaning about the fence, saw him inspecting it last night. He had been quite chatty with the builders but gave them the cold shoulder yesterday. Not really sure what the problem is as he has a nice new fence out of it - I've been here nearly 5 years and he's been promising to put one up since I arrived.

So pleased to hear your DM is mobile again Gers, it's lovely to hear that you are willing to give everything up to help her, you obviously love her very much.
Sorry to hear of your illness Poppy, moving can wait until you are fully recovered.
How did the date go Speky?
Good luck with the kitchen works nmlc, such an upheaval.
I wish I could do something to help you TA apart from send love and hugs.
Hugs to you too tru, does your Aunt not realise it's not all about her?
Go dumpling! With all the support on here, who needs a slimming club?

Right, bed to strip and the shower is calling. Have a good weekend, take care. XX

Hi all :)

Still pretty grey here and we had have a fair bit of rain yesterday so nice and cool this morning. Forecast to be hot again next week but a couple of days respite. Still needed to soak the baskets this morning though really should put them out on the grass when the rain comes again.

TA Im off to see Mamma Mia 2 on Tuesday as well and like your granddaughter am very excited...may have no voice on Weds :D

No major plans today bar the usual befriending call and an Asda delivery ....its a wild life for me.

Food last night was my left over chicken fajita. Today Im thinking about making up some lamb koftas with some pittas and salad.

Have a lovely day all

Good morning all.

We had some much needed rain yesterday, which started when I finished work, but I don't know how much difference it will make to fields and gardens, as while the pavement was wet while it was raining, by the time OH (creative guy?!) and I got home after a couple of drinks in the pub, the pavements were almost dry.

I have a rare weekend with my husband, as he normally works over the weekend, so once I've got ready today, we'll tackle the food shop at Asda, then go into town to the cinema to see The Incredibles 2. I also need to get my little godson a birthday card and present. On Sunday, we plan to have a proper sort out of the house. (At last managing to thoroughly clean and organise the downstairs I think - upstairs may be a bit more challenging due to the sheer volume of stuff that we own!)
Hope everyone has a lovely weekend.

We had rain for most of the day yesterday. It started around 9.30 with a downpour and then drizzled & dripped through till bedtime. Haven't opened the curtains yet to see how it is outside :o

I'm off to drop my car at the garage for an aircon service shortly and will walk to the allotment from there. Then off to tge farm shop for a leg of lamb to slow-roast as DHs brother & sis-in-law are breaking their journey from cruise ship to Fife with us tonight. Will make an orzo greek salad and griddled courgettes to go with it :p

Morning everyone,

It’s blue sky and sunshine here in EA, no sign of any rain although places nearby had thunderstorms apparently, please please let it rain soon!
Went to see DSIL yesterday afternoon, she was a tad down when we first got there but soon perked up with visitors, she is in a fair bit of pain but has morphine on drip demand which helps. Her consultant was pleased with how the op went and she should know within the next couple of weeks if she will need additional chemo or anything, let’s hope not :( She is a tough cookie and has already been through so much having lost my DB eight years ago.
I didn’t get to see Lu yesterday so will be going over soon, some gentle exercise, a nice cooling bath and then grazing in hand, time for just me and ponio, perfick.

Another one here who can’t wait to see MammaMia, loved the first one, even Mr Brosnan’s singing :D.
What a silly neighbour about the fence Camelot!
Hope the kitchen shenanigans go ok nmlc.
Like others I feel hopeless in every way TA but just to send positive vibes for you and MrTA x

Right, have a good saturday and take care folks x
