Octopus' recommended monthly direct debit amount - take care
Apologies if this has been covered before, but my understanding is that a fixed amount DD with an energy provider evens out periods of credit in the summer against those winter months when you are likely to move into a temporary debt position. I am an Octopus customer and regularly use their online balance projection to…

Unable to switch, Collective Nov26 tariff
When I follow the instructions and log in to my CEC account, this tariff doesn't appear in the list despite my being eligible (pay by DD, CEC member). How can I sign up for this tariff?

Ridiculous overestimated gas usage
My son has a small flat, 36 m2 with 2 radiators and a towel rail. Eon estimate his usage will be 20600 kwh. We have four years of actual usage at circa 3000 kwh per year. So obviously we send monthly meter readings but they still keep trying to increase his direct debit. He normally pays £100 in the winter and £60 in the…

British Gas variable direct debits
I'm switching to British Gas Collective Nov 26 from EDF. They have set up my direct debit but it is for a fixed monthly amount. I asked their live chat to change me to a variable direct debit but they don't seem to understand what I'm talking about. They keep telling me to contact my bank when it's British Gas who need to…

MSE 10 month Octopus fix for an existing Octopus customer - worth it?
I’m m currently on a fix with Octopus until April (electricity) and May (gas). No exit fees. The MSE fix is slightly more expensive for electricity but cheaper for gas so would save me around £25 overall between now and May next year. BUT it comes with 2x £25 exit fees. Do you think it is worth me doing the switch? Chances…

Deadlock letter from BG
Sorry this is a long one and I appreciate anyone taking the time to read/respond to this post. I have just received a deadlock letter from BG following a dispute over my mum's final duel fuel bill. She was admitted into a nursing home in August 19 (aged 68 with early onset dementia) and stayed there until she passed away…

Is anyone using a powerstation as a home battery for savings with Economy 7?
Is anyone using a powerstationa s a home battery for savings with Economy 7? I'll explain why I am considering the above. I have been camping for decades and a couple a years ago I bought a 300w, 300Wh powerstation, portable car compressor fridge and a foldable 100w solar panel. It last about 2.5 days without sun, but…

British Gas Customer switch to MSE Collective Nov26
Hi. I'm currently a British Gas customer on a fixed tarrif v63 April26. MSE have offered me a slightly cheaper tarrif Collective Nov26 which can save me around £80/year. When I try to switch within the MSE Energy Club I'm asked for all my personal details including bank account information. It's as if I'm going to be set…

Prices on tariffs are wrong on MSE
Wanted to change to the British Gas deal to save a couple of hundred a year and compared this with my current tariff. See pics attached. The prices for my current plan are wrong and too high on all three elements: day rate, night rate and standing charge. Compare with my bill from 03/10/2025 below. And yes I triple checked…

My Cheap Energy Club email exchange - no clear answers, just more confusion.
Here is the short email exchange I had with MSE energyclub regarding the BG Collective NOV26 tariff before they stopped responding. TLDR: MSE team claim the British Gas Collective NOV26 deal is available to existing BG customers, but not for gas-only switches. Obviously that's not consistent with what most of us are…

MSE British Gas deal
After seeing your British Gas cheapest since 2021 deal, I rushed to change my deal which is Fixed Tariff 18M with British Gas. I checked to see that my estimated useage was the same on the British Gas website and the Cheap Energy website. The Cheap Energy website says I will save £179 incl £20 cashback. The British Gas…

Fuse Energy & OFTM Reviews please ⚡️
Do you use Fuse Energy? What do think? How is the customer service? The App? Billing? Please let me hear your reviews. I've read the previous threads, Trust pilot etc. I'd like to hear from current or previous users. I'd also like to hear the same about Outfox the Market? It's time for me to divorce 🐙 It's been a long time…

Replacing a smart meter comms hub
Smart metering expertise required, if anyone has it. The comms hub on my smart meter was replaced a week ago but the replacement could not be commissioned. The WAN light flashes ever 5 seconds but the HAN light is solid green, which I think confirms this (I'm in the north on Arqiva LRR). I am thrashing around trying to…

How do I play the Domestic & General game?
Next Monday, Domestic & General will again send out a Beko technician to repair my dreadful heat pump tumble dryer. The dryer, a heavily used one, heats and rotates, but on the "cotton plus plus" setting, it takes 7 hours or more to dry. The technician, judging on past experience, will almost certainly have been taught a…

Energy supply unlooping for EV
Hey all, apologies if this is the wrong forum area. I have made a purchase through octopus for an EV charger. Having received a timescale I then put my order in for a lease car. However I initially received an email from National grid saying that they would need to do retrospective work for compliance. The following day I…

Octopus Energy Tracker Tariff or change?
I am currently on the tracker tariff for both gas and electricity with Octopus Energy. Is it worth sticking with the tracker tariff or are there better options with Octopus Energy?

Cheap Energy Club tarrif not available - why
Been a member of the cheap energy club for a while. I'm cuurently with Octopus on a monthly DD November 2024 v2 tarrif. According to the Cheap Energyu Club email, I should be eligible for the negotiated Octopus Energy 10 month fox but when I try and access it, I'm told I'm not eligible. Any idea why not? My Octopus account…

New Install - Heat Pump vs Combi
Which should I go for if I am going to be living in the property for 15+ years? We got an old boiler in our house replaced about 7 years ago from a tank to a combi. It resolved a few problems and we probably broke even on the cost savings. Now moving to a new house. But it's a question of whether heat pump setups are…
