Recieved Warm Home Discount Scheme letter, but do not have electricity account
Hello, I received a letter telling me that I have been awarded £150 from the Warm Home Discount Scheme, and that payment would be sent to my electricity supplier.
However, I live with my Mother in her house, and she is the only person named on the electricity account, my name is nowhere near it.
I qualify through receiving UC with the Disability/Illness payment, but I do not understand how I am supposed to use this, or have it applied to my Mothers electricity account.
Can anyone advise me on this?
I did think this was a scam, and have yet to be convinced it is not.
Thank You.

What exactly does your letter say?
Per the official guidance for England and Wales:
If you’re eligible for the scheme, your letter will confirm you do not need to do anything. Your electricity supplier will apply the discount to your bill by 31 March 2027.
If you need to give more information, your letter will tell you to call the helpline by 26 February 2027 to confirm your details.
Does the letter ask for more information?
If it doesn't ask for more information, it's possible they've already matched you to a supplier. You (or your mother) can call your supplier and check.

The WHD scheme run DWP data against suppliers' lists of customers to determine eligibility. If your name isn't on the supplier's list, then it shouldn't have passed DWP's eligibility checks. Call the helpline:

In previous years there have been many cases where the account matched to the address of the claimant receives the credit, even if it's not your name on it.

I don’t know if your mother is your appointee.
The last 2 years the WHD has gone onto my electricity account and my daughter is the one receiving UC. When I rang they said it was because I was her appointee it goes on the house electricity account
