Standing Charges on utilities, Is it possible to rid of
I’ve been looking into energy bills recently and I’m struggling to understand the justification for standing charges . it feels like you’re paying a fixed fee regardless of how little energy you use, which doesn’t sit right, especially when trying to cut costs. I’ve seen there’s talk of new tariffs or consultations where…

Advice needed: Solar panels never registered with DNO - and installer refusing to do so
Hello - wondered if someone can help. I moved into a new property which has solar panels. The installation was done in 2016 and I have the MSC certificate. I understand the installation was never registered for Feed in Tariff or SEG and that's what's I want to do (i.e. feed the power back to the grid and get discounts on…

E.On Next trying to pull a fast one?
Be warned… About two weeks ago, I took a gamble and decided to take out a one year fix with E.On Next (my existing company). As we mainly use during the day I was sure to chose a tariff that had the same day/night rate and this was confirmed in the email confirming the tariff change. get my first statement post change and…

Cheap Energy Club
just checked my tariff, but it seems the recent reduction in kWh hasn’t been updated for Fuse so double check before you take the plunge. In my case there doesn’t appear to any cheaper tariffs when using my new kWh price which is .2007p. Standing charge remains the same.

Stick or Twist?
Hi, I cannot figure out whether the time is right to move to a fixed price gas deal from the collective Nov '26 deal I am currently on to protect against the upcoming energy price rise next year, or whether I should wait until closer to the end of this deal in December and then look at the best fixed price deal? I would…

FUSE UPFRONT PAYMENT TO SWITCH
Email from Martin Lewis 16 April 2026 advising to get an energy fixed deal before they are withdrawn as July cap likely to be 15%. Signed up with FUSE only to find that once i had got to the end of the process, setting up Direct Debit etc., i was asked to xfer £100 as a pre payment (due to credit check red flag) to effect…

Can you switch one Utility within the 14 day cooling off period?
I've always used dual fuel tariffs & have never thought of splitting them up with different companies so I was just wondering if you sign up to a dual fuel tariff could you then switch to a different supplier for gas within the 14 day cooling off period penalty free? Or would that invalidate the electric tariff deal they…

Uswitch Electricity and Gas
OK colour me confused… I'm currently on the E.On Next Fixed 16m v16 tariff for both electricity and gas which is due to expire at the end of July this year. Current rates are 20.53p/kWh & 31.64p/day Electricity and 5.82p/kWh & 32.36p/day Gas. I'm thinking of swapping to the 12m v119 tariff which has the following rates……

E.on Next - Just accepted a new tariff but want to cancel it.
I just accepted a new tariff but realized it was a tracker and wish to cancel it and get a fixed. What is the best way of going about this? I have sent a message via Whatsapp but is there anything else I can do? If I signup to a new fixed deal would that cancel the Tracker that I have just signed up to?

Home Energy sticking to opening "industry read" (double charged units?)
A couple of months ago, I switched to Home Energy for electricity. Despite having a smart meter and the previous supplier using the correct reading for the closing read (ending '115'), Home Energy insist on using an "industry" opening read (ending '095') meaning there's a double charge of around 20 units (they are charging…

Off Peak hours not what I expected. Do they vary?
Hello, I've been on the very good Quantum Dimplex tariff with British Gas. It's been great but it is ending soon and rather annoyingly, there isn't a replacement Quantum Dimplex tariff. So much for that partnership between the two…. So I am trying to find another tariff to move onto. I found a good one last night with…

Energy bill, Debt claim - need advice please
I’m looking for some advice on a debt claim escalation. I’ve just received a "Final Notice" from BW Legal regarding an old British Gas account, and they’re threatening legal action in three weeks. The Situation: We moved house recently. British Gas set up a new account for us and issued a final bill for the old property. I…

storage heaters
I'm not sure what to do. I moved into a property 2 months ago and have economy 7 storage heaters. I left electric as it was on e7 because I didn't know how this worked. When my bill came in it was exceptionally high even though I was on e7 rate. I'm not sure what to do now because it seems that people are panicking over…

energy help/advice please
Hi, Currently with eon next which my fixed tariff ends July. With what is going on with the war and prices rising, i can switch to a different fixed tariff which is slightly more expensive with them. I do not really want to do this at the moment, but i am worried come July that these prices will just keep on going up. Seen…

EON Next Time of Use Energy Consumption- Electric
I had my suspicions that I was being overcharged for energy with EON, so I went through my bills and noted that there were no meter readings just consumption figures. I added them all up, added them to the opening reading I had when I joined them and by my calculation this was 10k kw more than my final energy reading with…

Energy costs -Still not sure whether to change back to fixed rate
Hi I’m with Octopus tracker for both electricity and gas I see the advice to change from variable to fixed deals as soon as possible with the July hike approaching but I’m still not clear if I’m better off in tracker or if I should try to switch back to a fix? Anyone in that situation also wondering …

Govt said Energy bills to fall by £150, then £118 and now today £100!
Starmer on radio this morning said bill would fall by £100 for avge household .Last year they said it was £150 then a few weeks ago I heard a minister say it was £118. I was disappointed none of the interviewers picked up on this and no-one in the media like Martin seem to be questioning how this figure has fallen by a…

Cheap-rate electricity sounds great in theory, but how do people actually remember?
I get the idea of using electricity at the cheaper times, and in theory it makes total sense. But in real life I think the hardest part is just remembering at the right moment. It’s easy to say “run the washing machine later” or “wait until the cheaper period”, but day to day I think most people just forget or get busy.…

To switch or not to switch...
I'm sure this is the most asked question but I'm a bit confused with the MSE comparison tool. I'm currently with EDF on their Fixed 26 paying £127 per month. I have a zero exit fee and was thinking of jumping before the rise on the 1st July which is also when my tariff expires, as it looks likely there is going to be at…
