Register Update - waiting over 1 year
Dear all I've processed for a register update to change ownership of a freehold property. This was done October 2024 with an estimated date of February 2026. Is there a way it can be fast tracked? It's a very long time to wait, and I imagined it would be done a lot quicker. Please advise.

LLoyds and Halifax 'co servicing'
Had a message from Llyds saying theyll be soon be introducing a service where if you have a Loyds and a halifax account, you will be able to view both accounts on the app/online account of one of them. I wonder if this applies to joint accounts and does it require new sign in details? For instance, myself and partner have…

Budget Dividend increase
Would this effect dividends paid on a fund held in an ISA/SIPP... Ie is the holder taxed, or would the fund be taxed before the dividends arrive in the isa...?

Ofgem faulty meter back billing rules
Earlier this year (late spring and summer) my gas smartmeter stopped working. It did not just turn into a "dumb meter" but completely stopped working. After it was replaced, I was issued with a bill for which my usage was estimated for a period of almost 2 and a half months, across three billing periods. Thinking the bill…

LGPS AVC STRATEGY
Hi, Do you have to take your full AVC lump sum when you retire or can you leave it invested and live off other savings/LGPS pension for a year or 2? With a 100k AVC, can I take a 40k tax free lump sum and max out 2 ISA's? If so, what happens to the 60k balance can i take that tax free whenever i want? or does it have to be…

The Chancellor has written to regulator Ofcom – as well as to major telecoms providers – over unannounced mid-contract price hikes. Smart parking appeal rejected
Hi there, We got caught out by Manchester Airport Pub/SMART parking. We appealed using the step 2 on the Newbies thread, and appealed via the Smart parking website, however, we received an email that stated they would still be upholding the fine. Do we have any other options for appealing? I’m of next steps as all other…

Single income, AuDHD, £31k debt, no savings
I’m trying to decide what to do, between instigating the
process towards a self-managed DMP, or ‘just’ continuing to try and pay debts
each month until it is clear (likely in around 4-5 years…) I would really value the thoughts of those in this forum – I don’t have any
family to discuss this with, and live on my own (with…

Zopa investments and general cautiousness
I wonder if I'm typical of what people like Martin have commented on lately - the general reluctance of Brits to invest instead of save. I had an email from Zopa today inviting me to open a beta investment account. I can't choose the S&S ISA option because I've maxed out this year's allowance, so I'd have to go with the…

17 year old debt, token payment and sudden threats from debt collection company.
Hi all, My brother took out a loan around 2008 and a few months after suffered an accident which left him disabled and unable to work. My mum took up the mantle to prevent him getting CCJ'd by paying £1 a month to Cabot. Which she's been doing ever since via standing order. Apparently, they have sent letters periodically…

All world tracker
I am restarting my investment at a later stage in life and it had taken me a long time to take the leap to move from over 25 managed funds into one all world Index tracker. The rest of my money are in savings and outside the ISA as no allowance left . As the fund value has dropped so the ration is 55/45. I have a separate…

A2A Heat Pump / Air Con
As with the 29/5/2025 changes I understand that it's possible to install air con / A2A heat pump without planning permission? We don't have radiators / gas at the property and air to water heat pump costs even after grant were just too high, hence I was thinking of getting A2A mostly for heating and casual 5-7 days a year…

Garage admits car was purchased from them in 2015 but can't say who the finance was with
Purchased new Ford from Ford main dealer in 2015. I wrote to them asking who the finance was with since I didn't have the paperwork. They replied confirming car was sold to me but said they no longer hold the data requested. My bank transactions don't go back far enough to look at standing orders or direct debits. Have…

Time to banish the debt.
I've been a lurker on here for a while now and kept meaning to start my own diary but for some reason or not I haven't, I now know it's probably because of the shame I'm feeling. I've had some kind of debt for as long as I can remember but never to this extent. 8 years ago I had just paid off £3000 on my credit card and…
