Ring Outdoor Camera
Hi
I like to replace a defunct CCTV system (cameras were faulted) but were cat 5 wired.
I was looking to replace with a Ring camera system to link with the door bell and Alexa.
Is there any RIng cameras that can be powered from Cat 5 cabling?
Which Ring outdoor cameras can easily be wired to an existing powered circuit (with sensor lights) or do not have fixed connections - so one could consider drilling through the wall with just a cable to thread through and not a large connector.
Its not obvious from the Ring descriptions of the types of connectors on some.

Some advice from my OH who has been looking at something similar.
If your existing CCTV has Cat 5 cable already running to the camera positions, I'd look at Ring's PoE cameras before doing anything else. The Ring Stick Up Cam Elite can be powered and connected through Ethernet using Power over Ethernet (PoE), so potentially you could reuse those existing Cat 5 runs. You would need a suitable PoE switch/injector, or Ring's PoE adapter. Simply having Cat 5 cable there isn't enough unless it's connected to a PoE power source.
Ring also now have PoE versions of some of their newer Outdoor cameras, so I'd definitely investigate those if you're replacing several cameras.
For the ordinary Outdoor Cam Plus Plug-In, the camera end uses USB-C. That means the cable itself is relatively small to pass through a wall, with the mains power adapter at the other end. I wouldn't try connecting one directly into an existing 230V sensor-light circuit though. It needs the correct Ring power supply unless you're using a model specifically designed for mains wiring.
As you've already got Cat 5 in place, PoE sounds by far the neatest solution and would avoid having to run new power cables to each camera.

If you already have the cables in place fit professional security cameras and a new NVR. I fitted Uniview cameras and NVR, it was easy enough to do

Thanks ordered the ring floodlight (hardwired) and 2 plug ins with lights (apparently need this kit on the hardwired version). I see what is in the box when they arrive.

Ideally want something that links with Alexa as notifications easier to hear.
