PPC Tickets for Stolen Car
Our car was stolen from our drive. Police were immediately notified and came to our property to take statements as were our insurance. The police were looking for it the following day and, by chance, it was found at about 10pm (as we spotted it) not that far away from where we lived. The police were involved throughout and…

Furniture in Fashion
Hi, I'm venting after an extremely frustrating experience with above company. Wondering if it is just me and also hoping to warn others. Found a lamp table which matched some existing pieces, described on Furniture in Fashion's website as Dark Elm finish. This is a rich brown colour, looking identical to what I have, in…

Keeping afloat till I can get round to the debts!
So here goes with a brand new diary. With the financial situation across the country as it is I'm going paycheck to paycheck and debts seem to be going up not down. It's time to take stock. Focus on the money actually lasting the month and forming a new plan. I've never been one for following the American debt fella but I…

Home Selling & Buying Protection Insurance
Hello, I'm considering taking out the above insurance as I'm looking to sell my leasehold flat and purchase another one. My buyer will either be a deposit+mortgage (residential or btl) or ideally a cash buyer. The former carries more risk as there could be issues with the deposit or mortgage meaning they're not…

Shorten trousers
I've bought a pair of leather jeans with unfinished long leg hems, I'm wondering if anyone has a suggestion on how to temporarily shorten them securely so I can wear and decide on length I finally decide I want to turn them up to. Also how best to shorten them - simply cut? or a smarter way? I've searched and glue or tape…

10 years to clear £334K - our FIRE journey
We bought our house late 2014 and have been (very) gradually doing it up. So far we have replaced the roof, oil tank and boiler and completely refurbished the study, living room and one bedroom. We have three bedrooms, bathroom, kitchen and utility still to go. We recently re-mortgaged and have released some equity to do…

IHT changes!
I read more IHT rules being apparently getting changed before even getting changed in the 1st place. It appears a 1 million pound limit is being increased to 2.5 million pounds now. A nice 150% change or increase and IHT of only 20% instead of 40% for farmers. Maybe the IHT rules will change for DC pension pots as well,…

Winding up of estate: retaining financial records
I executed my uncle's will almost three years ago. Since a fairly rapid probate, all minor debts and taxes have been long paid and the estate distributed. I have retained a pile of paperwork to do with my uncle's savings and investments plus valuations at the time of his death. How long ought I to wait before shredding…

Preparing a defence for County Court before xmas. How much info to put on.
Hi. I think l have managed to locate the defence template letter. My question is that someone l know was allegedly 'parked' in a non bay. However that person was not the driver and as the car has been used by multiple people, hence they cannot trace who was driving. Nevertheless the owner of the vehicle was not the driver…

Buying optical glasses on line
Another age-related problem is the need for various glasses for different purposes. I have ordered a pair of single-vision Reactolight glasses from Aliexpress for £28. Now, if I order varifocals online, what do I do to obtain the following measurement? Is a measurement against the existing frame good enough? Fitting height…
