Chargeback after switching?
I bought a £59 dash cam online yesterday without doing my due diligence. I have since learned that it is a probable 90% scam, my bad and unusual for me to do that.. I paid from Apple Pay from my First Direct bank account. I called the bank as I could see the payment was pending and asked if they could cancel the payment. They said they couldn't under the regulations and I should wait at least 5 days and then look at it. I explained that I am in the process of switching from First Direct to Natwest and this is due to take place on Wednesday 15th October so in a day or so. They said they would pass me through to the switching team but he came back and said that I should take it up with Natwest when the switch happens. Is this so? I would have thought my contract would have been with First Direct and the seller for chargeback. Any advice on this one?

Bit quick to cry 'scam' isn't it? Think you'd need to give them a week or so of failing to deliver your device before trying to chargeback anything.
Can we assume that there's no method of cancelling the order on the seller's site?
Being in the middle of a current account switch is unhelpful, but after the switch Natwest would be handling any requests in regard to this purchase.

Very true I may be jumping the gun but I'm just trying to ascertain who my chargeback would be with should the need arise, First Direct or Nat West. I did look on the site for cancellation but it's nowhere to be seen sadly and a phone number for Hong Kong. Thank for stating it would be with Natwest, it seems switching doesn't just switch the money, it's switches the problems with too.

When this has come up before, it's been stated that switching doesn't 'redirect' the responsibility for chargeback and that it remains with the bank via which the transaction was processed:
I could be wrong but think that a 'goods not received' chargeback can only be raised from at least 14 days after the expected delivery date?

One would assume that the responsibility would be with the original bank, well that was my thoughts which led me here for clarification, again only if the need arises. I did eventually find an email with the online retailer and requested a cancellation, I'll see what happens there.
