Faulty laptop knowingly sold to me
I’ve just been to Apple Genius Bar with my laptop I purchased 3 months from Facebook marketplace place to have it looked at. The diagnosis isn’t looking good but more worryingly is that there is a note on their system that says the laptop was brought in two days before I bought it with the same symptoms and terminal…

Do your consumer rights still apply if online company ships from China
Unfortunately I bought off a Web site called Avery Lane in Brighton. After paying I realised I had been scammed. The items are shipped from China. If you aren't happy with your goods you can return at your own cost. I have read reviews where people have been told it will cost them £30 to return! Consequently people give up…

Fault disguised to deceive!
I bought a bathroom basin from Amazon (third party seller apparently) last October, had it fitted and was quite happy with it. Recently when cleaning it I noticed what looked like paint coming away from the inside corner. On closer inspection and some more rubbing I realised that it had been filled in with some material…

Right of withdrawal query
Hi - my wife bought some items online from H&M, which included some non-H&M branded items. We didn't realise at the time but these can't be returned to store and have to be returned by post. Unlike store returns, they charge £2.99 per return per brand and she will incur multiple such charges. If we "cancel" the order via…

Broken wheelchair frame
I purchased a wheelchair from an online retailer two years ago. It took a while to be made from the factory and be delivered so its only been used for 18 months. It cost £1500 and then an extra £1000 on optional extras so £2500 in total. I paid £1500 for the wheelchair on my credit card and then the extra £1000 before…

FedEx extra charges more than cost of shipment!
Hi, I had a lost item (a hat) returned from Spain to UK. I used an agent called Eurosender who in turn used FedEx at an agreed cost of 19.21 euro. The very small package was collected on 29th June from the hotel in Spain . On the day of delivery (2nd July) I got a text from FedEx asking me to pay customs duties of £21 and…

Successful claim under Section 75 - Merchant says I owe them money
Hi all, A few months ago I made a chargeback for faulty goods with my CC company. After providing all the information they told me I needed to make a claim instead under section 75 and I filled out the form. After an initial 45 days where the merchant could dispute, which they did, I provided more information and the CC…

Builder caused carpet damage while doing works
I had a building contractor round to drill some hand rails along a staircase. He did not put any coverings on the carpet so there is brick dust on some steps. Hoovering did not remove it all. We did not hire this contractor and in fact they were hired by the council as we were provided this hand rail fitting for free due…

Defective Laptop from Currys – they won't repair without a Factory Recovery and a £150 backup!
. . .I ordered a brand new 17.3" Hewlett Packard Laptop on 30 December 2025 and delivered 2 January 2026. . . .Unfortunately it failed during the middle of last month on 15 June 2026 – the little indicator light on the power key failed to light up and the screen remained black – this laptop had Windows 11 from new and used…

Insurance not being able to get my excess back
A year ago, a friend of mine was involved in an accident. His parked vehicle was hit by a van, and the van driver got out and ran away. My friend opened a claim. It was straightforward because the van was still at the scene, we had the registration number, and CCTV footage clearly showing the van hitting the car. Esure…

When does the 30 day return start
I had a plastic shed delivered on the 1/6//2026 and it was damaged so I contacted argos and they sent a replacement on the 24/6/2026 but I'm having problems with the panels fitting together due to them being bowed so I've been on live chat with argos and they said they cannot do anything as the 30 days return have past. So…
