Amazon nightmare

Hi all,

I desperately need help, i ordered a mini PC for my son end of last year and it was ok at first but then it suffered a motherboard failure. I contacted Amazon and they agreed straight away to a refund and i arranged the return of the PC. I sent it back and was then given a refund date which past by and i received nothing from them. Then a generic email was sent to me saying the refund was delayed but no reason was given and that i could appeal, i wasnt sure what i was appealing but after contacting customer service they said it was because i sent the wrong item back! After checking the order i could see the design of the PC has changed but it was still the same item and i had screen shots of it before they changed the image on the amazon listing, but Amazon have refused flat to refund me and now it seems they have lost the PC!!

For weeks i have been bounced from department to department trying to sort this but its the same every time, that they are looking into it and then they go silent! What do i do? Im £350 out of pocket and have no PC either

    Not sure chargeback would apply here, if the PC was "ok at first but then it suffered a motherboard failure", in that it relies on specific reason codes rather than being a mechanism to enforce consumer rights more generally, so doesn't accommodate faults that weren't visible on delivery.

  • Ive spoken to my bank and they will try for me, i have provided all the proof they asked for including tracking information to say the item has been returned and screenshots of Amazon confirming the return and then passing the refund date etc. I have never had issues with Amazon before this, been so stressful trying to get it sorted, i would have happily had a replacement but they just offered a refund

    Might not be an issue for you but note that Amazon may close your account if you go down any chargeback route.

    @eskbanker

    Is right, no chargeback for faulty item, as not faulty when received.

    Also if going back on the non receipt of refund. Amazon could simply reject on the basis. Wrong item sent.
