PPI repayment taxable?
I understood from various sources that any PPI award was not treated as taxable by HMRC. I notified Tax credits of a repayment just to make sure, and am now in an unpleasant overpayment spat with them. Clarification anyone? Please.

I have had an offer from hsbc to settle a ppi complaint. It was for an £80000 mortgage between 1999 and 2009 with monthly repayments of £680. They have offered £1200 and say my total premium payments were £560 over 10 years. This means they were covering 680 per month for £50 per year. does this sound likely?
