Made a successful complaint against Lloyds for a packaged account, but I had good grounds. They checked my complaint details against the account information they had and upheld my complaint without question.
It took a couple of months for them to come back to me, but they called to tell me that they agreed and paid the money into my account the next day. I got about 10 years worth of monthly fees plus interest. Around £2.5k in all.
As I said though, I had very good grounds. I think there are threads dedicated to this if you look.0 -

Have you actually read the article on this website?0 -
Yes. Point being ???0

Brilliant news supersaver? If you don’t mind me asking , what grounds did you make your claim on ?0

I was 'sold' the packaged account on the grounds that I needed it in order to take out a loan, and they could verify the timings against their records. Also, I did not make use of any of the benefits associated with the packaged account in the time I had the account.0

Point being that your first question is already covered in that article.
Your second question is largely pointless. If you don’t mind me asking , what grounds did you make your claim on ?
This one is largely pointless as well as it adds nothing that is not covered in the article. Plus, the reasons the bank may uphold a complaint are not always the same reasons given in a complaint.
Many people are now timebarred from complaint. So, someone telling you they succeeded in the past wont help you now if you have passed the timebar point.0 -
See , I was put on a graduate additions account once I left uni under the guise that it was the only option to keep an overdraft facility . I too never took advantage of any of the insurances that came with the package as I honestly didn’t know I had them. So whilst I’ve been paying £7 per month for the package fee , I’d also been paying for an AA membership and phone insurance when apparently these could’ve been covered as part of the package .
I’ve been paying £7 monthly from 2008- current .
Don’t hold out much hope to receive anything back as I’ll be honest , I don’t have much evidence for a case as nothing was signed when I crossed over to a graduate additions account ... it was just a telephone conversation with a Barclays rep.0 -
Sonof... the irony of your posts are brilliant. Yes, maybe my posts are as pointless as posting angry messages on a forum topic with no other intent than to ATTEMPT to patronise and scold .
Have a good day and stay positive !0 -
Post 8 is much better. Information that is relevant to your situation allows responses to be tailored to you. Not the silly wishy washy rubbish that helps no-one that you started with.I was put on a graduate additions account once I left uni under the guise that it was the only option to keep an overdraft facility .
Actually, that could well be the case. Students were often given overdraft facilities that would not be given under a normal current account. When moving to the next stage, the graduate account would allow the continuation of that facility for a period before moving onto the final stage.
However, the other things you mention are good reasons to give in a complaint. Especially when you have purchased alternatives that you could have had.
The main issue is whether you are timebarred or not and you will only know when they respond to your complaint.0 -
We had a successful claim against Barclays in March this year. My hubby was told he needed to have the packaged bank account in order to have the overdraft he was requesting. Being 19 at the time he accepted that, the main issue and a bit like yourself is that he was already paying for private insurance on his mobile phone and that he didn’t learn to drive till he was 27 so the RAC membership was of no use either. I am sure the complaint was only upheld on the latter 2 parts of the complaint0
