Thanks Mrsn. Sounds like a real result 👍

It was gratefully received that’s for sure! It was roughly 4-6 weeks I think in the end.

Sent off the complaint to them and we had an acknowledgement letter pretty quickly and not long after that a phone call to go through the complaint in more detail. Probably 2 weeks after that we received the decision with the cheque enclosed.

And did you have to provide lots of evidence in the form of paperwork etc ? Like records of insurance with other providers etc ?

I spent some of yesterday cross referencing all the years I paid for AA breakdown cover and phone insurance cover not making use of the ‘benefits’ of the account that I was unaware of...

Haven’t even had an acknowledgement they’d received my complaint so I’m not holding out any hope!

To what end if you've already complained?

What date did you send it? They have eight weeks in which to consider your complaint and acknowledgements are usually received 8-10 days after receipt.

Do bear in mind that all the Banks are currently snowed under with PPI complaints...

Thanks Moneyineptitude and -taff.After posting , I got a letter through the post from Barclays . It says they are looking into my complaint and contacting 3rd parties who offered the benefits to check that during my time having the account that I haven’t made use of any . The say they will write to me by 2nd September if they haven’t contacted me before with an outcome .

Does the fact they have acknowledged my complaint and are looking into it mean that they won’t come back saying it’s been time barred (think that’s what it’s called ).

No, it just means they have received your complaint. No one will have even looked at it yet, it's just a form letter.

    Hi ,

So got a call today from Barclays who carried out an over the phone questioning session to ascertain why I felt my packaged account was missold .

I was able to direct her to statements where it showed I was purchasing car breakdown cover and phone insurance non the wiser that these were included benefits for such an account . I also made it clear that I was told graduate additions was my only option and wasn’t told of any other type of accounts when contacted by Barclays back in 2008. I also made it clear I’d made no claim on any of the benefits.

Two things struck me . The lady seemed to reiterate and ask a number of times ‘so when the packaged account was sold to you , you did have a car ?’ ‘So when the account was sold to you , you did have a phone ?’ . I sensed her point was , the account met your needs.

Another area that seemed to flaw any claim . I was honest and said when the graduate additions which I held From 2008-2017 automatically changed over to a Barclays Tech account , I was sent the breakdown of what the monthly packaged cost coveted and therefore I didn’t want to claim any misselling of the tech account , so from 2017 to now . She seemed to enjoy this however I reiterated that it was because Barclays wrote to me in 2017 outlining the benefits of the ‘tech pack’ account so I couldn’t honestly say I wasn’t in the know with what benefits came with the account .

All in all I had a strong sense that she determined they shouldn’t uphold the complaint . Probably should’ve been more furtive in my responses by hey you live and learn !
