MSE Recently Recommended Trainpal
I followed MSE recommendation from last month in order to save £10 on the OAP Railcard. Oooops - what a mistake! They have now taken both my Railcard payment & they've tricked me into a further £3.00 payment for 3% discount. I've just wasted 4 hours of my life trying to book a train ticket - the phone app (which you have…

Train from London to Bempton
I am hoping to go here in June/July to see the birds, if it rains I won't go. When do people think is the latest I can book without paying a lot?

Five hours in Heathrow
I have family who are arriving at 4.30 pm on a Saturday and flying out from the same terminal 5 hours later. Will it be possible for them to come out and say hello to me do you think? They are emigrating so this will be the last chance (I hope this is the correct board).

Pass plus or similar things are they worth it?
I have been driving for 9 years but not many miles just once or twice a week dropping my son off and a few longer trips. I am thinking of doing pass plus - partly because I want to do some longer trips abroad and I want to make sure that my skills are good. Are they worth it?

Rail Fares - When To Book
Hi All Im hoping for some advice. I need to book train tickets from up north to London return for May. Tickets have been out for a few days, but even with the railcards, seem expensive. Do train prices go down at all, or are they likely to stay as they are or go up? If it makes a difference, it’s for Thursday to Sunday.…

Train Pal & Bicycles Warning.
I just bought a discounted Senior Railcard after reading the latest news letter. All seems to be OK unless of course the company folds and the app is closed down. Since they only do split ticket prices you cannot book a Bicycle on any part of your route. You have to buy the ticket first then contact the train operator to…

Bus pass time
I reached the grand old age of 66 last year, so I am eligible for a local bus pass. However is there some sort of national bus pass I could get, to explore this lovely country?

Can I turn a racing bike into a commuter?
Hi all.Son looking for a cheap run-around for use at Uni, in a bike-friendly city. He's tall - over 6'2" - so available 2nd-hand options are limited.I have noticed that there are far more drop-bar racing bikes out there than hybrids or flat-bar commuters, and many are of a suitable frame size. Sooo, could I swap…

Cycle store in new home
Not sure which thread to put this in! I have recently moved into a new-ish home. I have a small garden, no garage, and a small shed which is stuffed with all my gardening gear. My family bikes are in a friend's garage while I work out what to do with them. There's no space in the house for bikes as I've significantly…

Rear Shimano gears problem.

The protective cage was bent and broken and pushed up against the changer, but it all looked fine when I pulled that away.If I press the changer in with my thumb as I spin the pedals, the gears…

Money Moral Dilemma: Should I claim compensation from the woman whose dog knocked me off my bicycle?
This week's MoneySaver who wants advice asks... I was in a bike accident where a lady with a dog on an extendable lead didn't have it under control and it ran into the road, hitting my wheel. I went over the handlebars, fracturing a clavicle. I've had an operation to put a plate in and will be off work for six to eight…

Train Delay Repay - how to claim?
I bought a ticket from the machine on the platform, but the return journey was a replacement bus service (staff shortage) and took well over an hour longer than it should. I tried to claim from Northern Rail but they said: I did use the ticket to travel but the bus driver didn't scan it or anything like that. Who is this…

National Express prices
Looking for London to Stansted Airport transfers which should be from £11 one-way. In the past you could get this price by booking a bit in advance, but now trying to book for tomorrow a few weeks or over a month and price is 17£! Basically there are no non-refundable saver tickets, but just these refundable ones till 24h…

Anyone know of a way of getting alerts when the tube is either delayed or not running?
Looking for a way of getting alerts to my phone when the tube isn't running, rather than having to check the TFL status page every time I leave. It seems to have become more of a common occurrence that my overground line isn't running. Any help appreciated!

Avanti double refund
3 weeks ago I was travelling from Birmingham to London with Avanti, I had booked the train direct with Avanti including the (separately operated by West Midlands Railway) local journey to New Street. The cross-city lines in Birmingham were closed on my day of travel until the afternoon due to storm damage. Avanti emailed…

Taking a folding bike on a train
I'm planning to buy a folding electric bike once the weather gets a bit better. The main reason for folding is so that I can put it inside my car rather than having to pay a significant extra amount for a tow bar to be fitted and a tow bar carrier to be acquired, I'm also likely to want to take it on trains…

Cheap Train Tickets from Stansted (and elsewhere)
I need to get back from Stansted on a Sunday in a few weeks, driving and parking was one option but parking was coming out quite expensive so looked at trains. I'm used to being able to get Advance train tickets if you buy sufficiently ahead of time but was surprised to see that there are none available for Stansted…

Problems with 60 plus oyster card
My card ran out in May but I had no correspondence from TFL about this in any form and they now tell me I have to apply for a new one at a cost of £20 . I have tried to do this but when they want my driver licence number I have five letters and numbers when they only want 3 and only let me put in 3, so I rang them again…

Travel Costs
I am on an enforced medical break from driving. I need to travel between Basingstoke and West Drayton to get to work. I stroll up to buy a ticket on my first day and was asked for the princely sum of £47.00. (Hardly encourages people out of their cars, does it?) The guy at the ticket counter stated that there was no…
