Anyone from Manchester please. Need help with the trams

Hi, we are going to Manchester myself, daughter and elderly parent this weekend to look at the xmas markets and shops. To aid getting about and take a load off parent walking, we are going to use the tram to get about parts of the city.
How do we pay for the tram, do we tap in and out on the tram like London tube and it is capped to an amount base don the zone you are in. I'm not sure even after trying to find videos on YT.
A very basic question but one I cant find an answer for!

HI, after searching again I found some inf on the Bee network website.0

Tap in with a contactless card before you board. Tap out with the same contactless card when you get off.
Don't tap if you need to change trams.
If you use the same card all day there's a cap based on the zones you travel in.0
