Why Vast Difference in Train Prices?
Hi, I notice train tickets from Bristol to Manchester return are nearly £180 for 17th - 26th June, but only £62 in May for similar days of the week. I tried changing the days of the week to see if that was it, but no, it seems just June was more expensive. The kids aren't off school in June, so anyone know why? Thanks

TICKET MACHINES NO LONGER OFFERING THE CHEAPEST TRAIN TICKETS
The ticket machines at Milton Keynes station no longer offer the cheapest Super Off Peak Day Return tickets to Euston. These used to be available at the machines, but now you either need to go to the counter or buy online. If you go to the machine, all you are offered is a slightly more expensive ticket. So that looks like…

Avanti
I'm travelling from the North West to Birmingham next week. Used to be able to get a train straight through, but can't at the moment, so I mailed them to ask why. This is the response: "Our train times have to be planned around every train operator that uses and connects into the West Coast Main Line. Also, our timetable…

Can I use Groupsave tickets for only 2 adults and 2 children? Train websites confusing!
Hi knowledgeable people! We are trying to book one day return train tickets from Worthing to London, ideally to include tube travel as well, for Saturday for 2 adults and 2 kids (a 5 and 6 year old). When we search on Nat Rain, Train Line, and any others we put in those parameters and it offers the groupsave option as the…

Replacement bus
We have replacement bus between Huddersfield and Manchester Airport due to work at Stalybridge. I've used this service 4 times and at no point are tickets checked. Railway staff are at the stop to make sure you get the correct bus..but absolutely no check. I mentioned it to staff and just got a shrug of the shoulders

National express 1 adult book 2 seats?
Looking at prices for both National Express and train. National express is cheaper by at least £60 - booking as 2 adults. This is compared to 1 adult for a train. Is it ok to book as 2 adults to have 2 seats just for myself? It probably is, probably just me overthinking that other passengers may think its free and its not.

Network Railcard and Travelcard for London Zone 1 with kids?
In the Easter holidays I need to be in London on a weekday before 11.30am due to a booking made by a friend. I have a Network railcard which discounts my trip somewhat but it's still pretty expensive! One thing I've noticed is that to add a Travelcard (which I would like to use) costs a lot more, presumably because they…

Electric bikes - steep hills
Hi all, My partner and I are thinking about buying a pair of electric bikes. There is one very steep hill that we'd use regularly. It's a very twisty country road. Does this look achievable and, if so, what sort of bikes should we be looking at? Thanks

In deciding whether to commute 2-3 times a week by car or public transport, what are the key important factors to consider? I have outlined a few considerations below but want to see if I’m missing anything as I’ve never commuted by car before. Commute is from North London to an office near Heathrow Airport. Hardly dare ask again, but please help us.
Last year, myself and wife, (80's, both rollator's, wife disabled) were given advice from MSE members, how we should cross London from Waterloo to Marylebone by bus. (def not underground due to a fall on escalator years ago). We knew we had to exit Waterloo, down slope, walk under the road via tunnel and seek Bay J for Bus…

Tfl weekly cap
Hi I am visiting London for a week on Friday and I've had a look and I know they do a daily cap on contactless cards. I have seen they also do weekly caps. However the weekly cap looks like it's from Monday to Sunday so this would not work for me would it. Ideally would like to avoid paying for Oyster card but might have…

Delay Repay: Cancelled, so took an earlier train?
My intended train was cancelled because of infrastructure problems. An alternate valid train was about to leave when I realised this at the station, so I hopped on it. But had I not been so lucky, I would've been delayed nearly 50 minutes. I will have scanned my tickets at both the departure and arrival station. Is my…

Trainline Refunds - lack of
I booked 2 journeys through Trainline both of which were disrupted by delay or lack of seating, in 1 case by 10.5 hours, and in both cases Trainline has said it is not responsible and referred me to the train operator. In both cases again the train operators have referred me back to Trainline. Catch 22!
