Eurostar Madness 30th Dec

Hi all,
I got caught in the EUrostar Madness on 30th Dec.
It cost me £300 to get to Brussels and all Eurostar offered was a rebooking of a train ticket.
I want reimbursement for the flight(and extra train) I had to book as well as the extension of my day by 12 hours.
Is there a thread already for this? Am I fighting a losing battle? I'd love to know peoples thoughts and hear if anyone else was similarly messed over.
Note-when i looked at rebooking tickets there was nothing for two days, so i would have had to pay for a london hotel for 2 days, which would have cost me as much as/if not more than the flight, as well as making me have to miss work for 2 days unpayed, so the flight was the only option.

What travel insurance do you have?0
-
I had some x-cover insurance for my UK part of the leg down from Wales to St Pancras, but nothing for Belgium as I live there.
Ive checked the x cover and its only for the UK sadly.
I was hoping someone with some smarts may appear out of the shadows and be able to advise, as I know with Airlines that you can get reimbursed quite significantly even without insurance. Is there anything similar for international trains?
(If there isnt then its another huge shame for the rail industry, flights are cheaper, and quicker, but i want to reduce my carbon footprint, but how am i meant to do that if the rail companies keep fleecing me)0 -
All the details are here: https://www.eurostar.com/uk-en/travel-info/service-information/claiming-compensation#Missed-connection
There's no statutory compensation, but theres details there for submitting receipts, expenses etc. You can only try, good luck!1 -
Thanks, I'll try this, much appreciated.0
