Train ticket splitting, missed connections and Delay Repay

Sorry I know there have been a few threads about split ticketing in general and Trainpal in particular, but I can't find any that match this exact scenario, and the closest thread to it has been closed.  Sorry if I have missed a relevant existing thread.

I needed to go from Bridlington to Leeds yesterday morning.  Trainpal sold me an 09:09 (Northern) Bridlington to Hull (arr. 09:51) and a 10:03 (LNER) Hull to Leeds (arr 10:57).

The 09:09 (Northern) train Bridlington to Hull was cancelled.  I took the next available train to Hull (Northern, no charge) but wasn't there in time to get the 10:03 (LNER) Hull to Leeds train.  Instead I got the next available connection which was the 11:03 (LNER) Hull to Leeds (no charge).  This meant I arrived in Leeds an hour later than I booked - 11:57 instead of 10:57.

If I had bought a single Bridlington to Leeds ticket I would therefore be entitled to a 100% Delay Repay refund for being an hour late.  Am I entitled to the same refund with split tickets?

If not, split ticketing has ended up costing me more than buying just one ticket (e.g. from National Rail).  Is this the case?  TrainPal's FAQ's didn't help with this at all.

Was it like in my scenario where they were with different operators, one cancelling the other blameless?  If so did you apply to both operators separately, or only the one that cancelled?

You are entitled to delay repay based on your itinerary, which was Bridlington to Leeds leaving at 9.09 arriving 10.57.

The 10.03 and 11.03 are both a Transpennine service, not LNER.

Submit the claim to Northern (it was their cancelled service which caused the initial delay and that is the company you claim from, based on the actual services used and they will calculate the amount due based on the tickets held.  If you were an hour late you will receive a 100% refund.

Trainsplit is better than Trainpal - UK based and managed by people who know UK rail ticketing inside out.
