For longer complicated journeys I use Trainsplit app.

I do that journey a few times a year but have only done it twice by train. It takes over twice as long as driving.

Try trainline.com - they will show the cheapest standard fare, but will also show you if split tickets (multiple tickets covering the same overall route) are cheaper, as well as letting you buy the split tickets in a single transaction.

I've also found them to be more up to date than the actual train provider websites. A few months ago they were showing options that weren't available via Southwest directly. Today, I was able to buy an advance single for just over £13, when only an open return was available via the train company at over £50.

You know there's a bus replacement service on that route from Swansea to Carmarthen this weekend (Saturday/ Sunday) ?

Do you have a Railcard e.g. a two together if you're travelling with someone, if not it may be worth getting one as it could save you more than the £35 cost.

You say "we can travel" but then ask for a price for one adult, can you clarify how many are travelling, and if they're adults/children?
And is this a one way journey or are you looking to come back at some point, and if so when?

Hey! Try checking Trainline or SplitMyFare for split tickets via Crewe and Cardiff as it’s often cheaper. Sunday or Monday fares are usually lower. Railcard helps too!
