Riser recliner chair
Hi everyone After a bit of help here. I bought my nan a riser recliner chair, and she has had it for a few years, so it's time for a replacement. She tells me that my great aunt has one that operates with a manual "wheel" and not with electricity - this is appealing to her as she dreads the thought of being all reclined…

Club 55
I see both Scotrail and Arriva Wales have club 55 schemes again this Spring. They both involve travel anywhere in their region on return tickets for a nominal sum [up to £25 for some 1st class in Scotland] of about £18. Phenomenal bargains are available on both, but does anyone know if any other companies are joining in? I…

Plans for 2012?
Have you made any plans for 2012? Mine include no longer putting off the various jobs I had planned to do when I retired 4 years ago as a prelude to getting the house ready to move. Getting DH to talk about making some plans would be great too! Realistically I don't think we shall manage to move in 2012 but would like to…

Moving nursing home areas, denied family life?

Solicitor destroys records after 10 years
Is it normal practise for solicitors to destroy client/solicitor records after 10 years. The records in the 1990's covered several house transactions and I remember at the time him saying let me make a note of that in case there are disputes in the future. Is this normal practise?

solicitors charge for will?
Has anyone any idea approximately how much a solicitor would charge to draw up a will? My father wants to leave a small amount to his great-grandchildren, and the rest to be divided equally between his children. The total amount of the estate, including his house, would probably be around £120k. Thanks.

Does anyone have any unusual, useful suggestions for gifts likely to be appreciated by the over 80's age group? My family is very fortunate to have a large number of elderly relatives including several in the 80-95 age group, but I always struggle with Christmas presents for them. The seniors that I have in mind range from…

Sleeping patterns change?
Since I retired I find that my sleeping pattern has changed drastically. I wake at odd times and sleep at odd times. It doesn't bother me as I read, surf the net or catch up with recorded tv programmes then go back to bed. Has your sleep pattern altered a lot since you've retired?

Hi All I'm going to start receiving a very small pension of £40 each month from January. Pretty well set up for all the basics - home, heat, food etc and I already donate to my favourite charities.
