Pension credit - savings credit
Can anyone enlighten me regarding Savings Credit. How do you know if you are eligible? Do they take into account your savings, as it is supposed to be a reward, perhaps they don't care how much you have. I have just retired with full state pension and will be getting a small company pension Any advice welcome

Making new wills
Apologies if this is in the wrong part of the forum. We are planning on making new wills as our old ones are now out of date, but have been shocked at the cost involved to make them. We have been recommended that making a Discretionary Wills Trust is a good idea, and also becoming Tenants in Common. I've come across an…

Care Home Fees - family home being treated as capital??
Hi I hope I am in the right place. I have been posting on another part of this site and something has come up that has made me wonder if we are doing the right thing. Facts: Dad is in a care home suffering from Alzheimer's Disease. He has been there since early 2010. He gets no help towards the cost from the NHS because he…

Any recommendations for mail order catalogue for clothes?
I'm wondering if anyone has any recommendations for a mail order catalogue that does nice quality/style clothes for a young 60s female? I don't mean latest fashion but something that a young at heart 60ish person would wear rather than something my 87 year old mother would wear. Also any recommendations for jeans. I have a…

Financial abuse of an elderly relative
Please excuse what will be a long & rambling post, but I could do with some advice. The background is that 14 years ago, after the death of his wife, my Father in Law moved down from the North of England to live 5 minutes away from us in a housing association flat which he owns without a mortgage. My husband's other…

Mother keeps having money stolen
My 88 yr old Mother has recently lost some money again from her bungalow. It is all a bit of a mystery, but she doesn't seem to be vigilant enough to manage cash in the house. She is insistent at having about £250-£500 cash available for independence, although she rarely needs large amounts and we can nip out to a nearby…

Care Home Fee Increase
I would be grateful if anyone has some advice. My father is currently in a Private care home in Scotland and has been resident there for one year. Last year his Care home fees increased by 4.79% and this year they have increased By 8.75% due to an annual review which means we are now having to pay an extra £230-00 a month…

Need some advice from the experts please. Shortly after my father passed (October 2003) my Mum found she couldn't manage at home alone due to her poor health (severe arthritis and mobility problems). Loft insulation grants - misleading information
I was told by Warmer Home last August that I qualified for a loft insulation grant. I am over 60. But I have now been presented me with an invoice (I had the insultation installed based on this advice). They say now that I was not eligible and have to pay. I feel misled. Anyone else have a similar complaint ?
