Why is it so hard to give away late husband's clothes?
Can't think of the right board for this topic but I thought more people on the over 50's board might have been in this situation. I have quite a few clothes and shoes of my late husband's and after giving it some thought I decided that the ones still of good quality and nearly new ones would hopefully be of some benefit to…

Learning to play a piano
In the autumn of my life I feel I want to achieve a few things I always wanted to do - one being able to play an instrument. Would a piano be best? Will I be able to learn at all, would I have to be able to read music. I guess if I take lessons I would need to practice at home but I dont want a big piano in the house if I…

Funding children at university
My daughter will be starting uni in 2012, just in time for the massive tuition-fee hike. Although she's come to terms with the idea of a loan to cover the fees, I'd like to fund her living expenses (rent etc) myself, up to a total of around £7k a year. I have some savings, and thought I might lend her enough money at 0%…

"Bath Knight" - any second hand value?
Just to explain what a "Bath Knight" is: A low voltage box of tricks screwed to the wall side of the bath. Inside the box is a "roller blind" worked by an electric motor. The length of the heavy duty cloth coming from the "roller blind" is draped across the bottom of the bath and the bather sits on the material while…
