It's free but donations are welcome. 🔨🧵🪡🎨 I'd like to hear from people who have used one. What did you have repaired? Before and after…

Calling Remoska users!
Today discovered that Aldi had silicone 8" cake 'tins' in their special buys middle aisles I always use these for cooking cakes in the Remoska but more importantly for protecting the rather flimsy Teflon coating inside the base tin when cooking even a roast. I have tried to replace them over the last few years but none…

Any Bakers Online?
I have to admit I have a sweet tooth, as my dentist will confirm. Now when I walk into a bakery quite a lot of the goods seem to be made with what I will describe as artificial cream. A quick search of the internet throws up several formulas: your basic buttercream (revolting!), a German and Swish based recipe,I haven't…

Weekly Flylady Thread 11th September 2023
Welcome to the weekly Flylady Thread. What is FLYLADY? Well, it's our version of the US flylady idea - but we work on the principle that housework is not fun, it's boring, can be time-consuming, is often thankless but, unfortunately, necessary. It's here on Old Style to provide the support we all need and to make the whole…

Made my own butter!!
Looking at the yellow sticker stuff in Morrisons and noticed they had several 2l cartons of whipping cream on offer for £1 each, bought one and watched a youtube video on how to make butter, made a hell of a mess but ended up with about 750g of butter which has gone in the freezer.

Kilner Jar Gaskets?
The freezer is now about full with blackberries and apples yet the wind brings more windfalls which need dealing with. In the old days we used Kilner Jars a couple of boxes of which still haven't been thrown out. The problem is I can't use them because I can't find or buy replacement gaskets to ensure a good seal or…

Cheap cloths drying
I hope this is in the right place , sorry if it's not. Two years ago during the winter my old tumble dryer broke down during the winter months and I was forced to dry the clothes indoors on the radiators and on a clothes horse which took a long time and left the clothes smelling awful. I discovered after trying different…
