Well, it's a definite sleepless night tonight, so I thought I might as well get up again. Blimey that was cold yesterday and actual heavy snow for the second or third time ever in this house. Shame it didn't stick. I know that's selfish but I love snow, always have even when it's inconvenient but then, I don't live in an area that's regularly disrupted by it, so to those of you who do, my sympathies. And it's never very pleasant if you don't have somewhere warm to look at it. Builder is coming in the morning to do some stuff then I have a blood test at the docs. I've lost about ten pounds lately without trying so I expect that will get a result of what it could be. There are only really two things it could be so I'm trying not to worry either way. At least the tablets from the hospital are helping with the lurgy, breathing is a doddle now, and I think the gunk is finally shifting. So all in all, all well.
Yorkslass, result for not having to do the office appointment, hope all goes smoothly for you. Hope you all have a good day today, someone needs to....

Good morning, it's bitterly cold here, and everything is glittery outside. Not much snow, but it'll be slippery.
I went to the shops yesterday, then we went out to the quiz last night.
Today, I want to take a coat for alteration to a sewing place a few miles away. The shoulders need altering ( Dh says they're fine but I don't trust his judgment) My dil agrees with me that the shoulder pads are a bit big. I'll see how the weather goes though.
Hope everyone has a good day, be careful if you're going out.
Take care folks.0 -
Morning All
Thanks for the starts Scarlet & taff. Glad the lurgy is shifting taff.
It's bloomin cold this morning, hoping for some sunshine as it didn't appear for very long yesterday. Found it hard to keep warm last night but the winter quilt is doing it's thing!
Not a lot happening here but gradually clearing the kitchen so the painter can come at the weekend, all very exciting as I've been waiting for him for ages.
What an awful situation SO, go with your heart.
Take care and stay safe. XX13 -
Thank you Scarlet for the start off. As you can see I'm up at daft o'clock this morning. It's very cold outside with a lot of ice about and the gritter has been up our road twice during the night. We did have some snow yesterday which covered the pavements and garden but thankfully the roads stayed clear. All the schools shut at lunchtime and I expect they maybe closed again today because of ice under foot. Gone are the days when you trudged to school through 6 foot drifts only to be sent home again because the outside toilets were frozen and the school boiler wouldn't light, ah those were the days 😀
I did get a face 2 face appointment with a locum GP yesterday, he was very nice but didn't know what the cause of my pains were so gave me anti-inflamms/painkillers to see if they do the trick and some exercises to try, if not I have to go back in 2 weeks for investigations as in more scans etc, hmm thought I'd finished with those for a bit.
Not sure what today will bring, I may just cwtch down under my blanket with my book.
Hope everyone has a good day and stays safe and warm.
Take care all, hugs to anyone in need.

Morning allBrr it's icy out there this morning. Upside is the skies are clear and if they stay clear DH might be able to use his birthday telescope tonight now he's worked out how to use it!A bit of dusting and hoovering this morning and then off for my yearly blood test. Might pop into local supermarket as I'm looking for some small amaretti biscuits for reindeer cupcakes for Christmas and their website seems to stock them. Already got the pretzels for their antlers :-)Keep warm all xx10

Morning all. Thanks for the start @Scarlet.This morning the temperature is back to plus 1 degree though the forecasted high is only 3 degrees so not too wonderful. Yesterday I lit the woodburner the earliest ever. Then I unexpectedly had to go out. 🙃 By the time I got back from Oban there were still embers so I managed to get it going again. Two logs at a time gave the correct amount of heat for me.The planned soup has been postponed as I felt the need for a hearty casserole so bought some beef chunks when out. I did it like Mary Berry's foolproof lamb version which uses leeks so they weren't wasted. The smell has been enticing me all night. Some will be portioned up for the freezer.Today my new sofa bed is being delivered by JL. The two hour slot is 12.20 - 2.20, they're usually pretty accurate. It's to go upstairs into what I now call the day room, I liked having only a single chair but a sofa bed makes more sense. I need to nip out this morning to get some biscuits to give the delivery blokes. 😀
I hope the meds help you @Nan. Hugs and clouds of warming air to everyone.11 -
Morning folks and thanks SCARLET and TAFF for the even earlier start. Another cold 'un it's minus 3 here but set to reach the dizzy heights of 1 deg by lunchtime. There is still snow lying frozen in the gardens but the roads and pavements are clear. But no doubt icy and slippery. Going nowhere as I have enough problems keeping on my feet when it's not icy!
The excitement of my day is being able to eat solids (I feel like a baby!) Whilst I was laid in bed clockwatching and waiting for a civilised time to get up this morning I idled the time away planning what to eat today! Small pleasures!
I rang my bus buddy again yesterday (the friend laid low with the fractured pelvis) and her problems are escalating. She sounds really jaded and far from her usual cheery self.
As much as I would like to spend the day snuggled under my heated throw reading there are jobs to do first I suppose. Have a good day folks if you can and ((HUGS)) for all in need. SO my thoughts are with you. TAFF and NAN I hope things improve for you both. Take it easy and rest up. Take care all stay safe xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"12 -

morning everyone
Taff - hope you have managed to get some more sleep and can get a speedy result from the Dr
Izzy - please take care after your rubbish night. We finished up with 5-6 inches of wet snow yesterday, most of the drive thawed and I didn’t really clear much (it’s a large drive shared with next door who has a bad back so unable to help) thinking it was going to be fine. Woke up and there another inch or so and it’s all frozen. Was supposed to be taking DMum to do some Christmas shopping but doubt she’ll want to go.Take care all especially if you have snow and ice

If only! My appetite doesn't change, it's have to be acold day in hell before my desire to eat goes
Mind you, that reminds me of that students answer....
I'm glad you infection has burst even if it was messy because it should get better for you now but omg, what a trio of unfortunate circumstances together!Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi9 -
Having two threads is messy too.
I'll ask for them to be merged.
