Morning allThanks for starting Scarlet.Woke up for a comfort break around 5.15am and remembered that the F1 was on at 6am. Bad move, couldn't get back to sleep so here I am watching it now! DH had to go into work early to open up for an event today so I was able to go back to bed with my breakfast. Shepherds pie for dinner later.Weather has warmed up today, thank goodness. Hope everyone getting the worse of Bert are safe.Have a good day all x11

Morning all,
Been up for a little while, woke with bad dreams again.
Still blowy outside, so I will spend today all nice and cosy indoors. No plans apart from reading and restarting my crochet as I do really want to get my sister’s throw completed.
Take care.

Morning folks and thanks SCARLET, but bah to the lost post. It's so annoying when they disappear into nowhere.
True to forecast the heavy snow yesterday did turn to rain but not as heavy as I expected. But it was enough to turn the snow into mush and get the road open again. And the relieved bride I mentioned was able to get the flowers delivered and the hairdresser to come too. DD and her DP were going to the night do so I'll be hearing all about it.
I had unexpected guests last night! The two DGD didn't fancy making their own tea and being home alone so they invited themselves here for tea and sleepover. As always it's lovely to see them. They are still in the land of nod but when they surface I expect an order for a 3 course breakfast! They will probably stay on for lunch too so will need to do a freezer dive.
Supermarket Sweep with DS is this afternoon as they were staying over at a friends last night. I prefer to go as soon as they open as it's quieter but hey ho it is what it is.
Have a good day folks if you can and I hope everyone has survived the weather conditions intact. ((HUGS)) for the poorlies, sad or lonely. Take care all stay safe xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"11 -
Hi
Absolutely torrential rain here - dead to think the state of the nearby river.
Yesterday’s craft fair was awful - not very busy, no atmosphere, I’m sure the awful weather didnt’t help but I felt like people didn’t ‘get’ what I was selling and consequently feeling very downhearted. I can only hope today’s is even marginally better. I have done this one before, it’s well advertised and has Santa visiting so hope that’ll draw people in. Just while I’ve been typing the rain has eased slightly so that will make unpacking a bit less unpleasant.Hope everyone survived Bert and has a good Sunday

Good morning all, and thanks for starting us Scarlet.
Heavy rain and gusty winds, but temperatures of 15 degrees outside. Got disturbed by big dog as the wind was freaking him out. This is the boy who didn't bat an eyelid with the fireworks.
I think today will be a lazy day. DH will be watching the f1 highlights so I'll do some cooking. Gammon for dinner and I'll make a cauliflower cheese to go with it (a match made in heaven). Other than that just need to persuade bd out.
My DD rang yesterday asking for ideas for Xmas presents for us (and birthday for me). We feel lucky that there's nothing we can think of, but she won't accept that so will have to get some ideas. Any ideas anyone? To be honest I would rather she spent the money on her herself.I hope that doesn't sound ungrateful.
Keep safe everyone, love and hugs to all who need them.11 -
Morning all - thanks for the start @Scarlet.What a lovely surprise @TA, it's so lovely that they both want to spend time with you.@AA - what a shame for you after all the work you put in. I hope that today is a better one. Here in my small corner of the west coast, right by the sea, Storm Bert was almost another very cold winter day. The icy rain and high winds continued for most of the day though snow never appeared. And the rain wasn't as bad as predicted. I know that only a few miles away the snow fall was horrendous. The Rest was closed a lot and the magnificent gritter blokes were leading ad hoc convoys up and down it. Certainly we got off lightly, makes it all the worse for areas which were dealt the harsher effects of the storm. I hope that everyone survived OK.My day was calm and quiet - that means that I didn't do too much.
I watched too many episodes of Chelsea Detective from the recorder. I did do a modicum of stuff, emptied the DW and put away the washing, I'm not proud!
Today the temperature is slightly warmer and the forecast is better. I may venture out to take away my rubbish if the rain holds off. It's time to bring out the Advent wreath and light the first candle. I'm not religious in any way but enjoy the link to my childhood when my beloved late DM waded into her German Christmas traditions in a big way. We always had a large real tree which she decorated with great love. She used a lot of lametta which is thin strips of silver tinsel. The very best part was the real candles in holders clipped to the outer reaches of branches. When these were lit on Christmas Eve night the effect of the light on the lametta was just magical. These days I buy a tiny tree from Blooming Wild!Bug virtual hugs to all our poorlies and another for those who are sad.

It's a long way away from the days when a list was written or there were real needs. With my family, when I had one, we tended towards events rather than wrapped presents. An afternoon tea, or cinema tickets or an outing etc. Once again, my late DM insisted on a very small gift to unwrap though it was always a token (what we call 'a minding') in Scotland. And yes, it would be better if your DD spent the money on herself - good luck with that.

Morning everyone from been cut off with snow yesterday to lots of rain and very mild temperatures today it’s unbelievable what a difference a day makes . I need some shopping not a lot just eggs and bread and a couple of other bits hubby fell yesterday when he was out with the dog only his pride was hurt but he’s woke up as stiff as a board the worst bit was trying to get up of the floor he has two new knees so he can’t kneel so he had to drag himself over to a fence and somehow or other try to climb up it he’s pleased there was no one around. I’m making roast beef dinner today but otherwise not a lot happening. Thinking of all the poorlies hugs to those that need them have a good day everyone whatever you are doing11

Morning All
Dry for now and fairly bright, yesterday was awful, cold, windy, sleet, snow, you name it we had it! The roads were a bit slushy here but the next town it was clear, just wet.
I ventured out as the kitchen was out of action - all finished now and I really like it, navy blue on the walls, the woodwork was already white. I'm slowly getting everything back in order but will wait for assistance with things to go on the walls. The blind should be fitted tomorrow morning so it should be cosier.
Whilst being over the moon with the kitchen I had a bit of a disaster with the stove in the front room, the handle of the coal bucket knocked the fan off the top, the fan bounced off the other coal bucket and smashed the glass. Of course the fire was lit so I had to watch it until it died down. I got up to check on it about 2am and covered the gaping hole with cling film. Thank goodness it wasn't windy. Anyway, new piece of glass ordered so will wait for that to arrive and get my trusty chimney sweep to fit it.
Off to the panto later, quite looking forward to it, just hope I can stop coughing long enough that it doesn't spoil things for everyone else!
Sorry you had a bad day yesterday Allie, hope today is better.
What a lovely surprise TA, enjoy their company.
Right, I'm off to the shower. Take care. XX11
