Morning all. Milder but extremely windy here.
Had a good time for DGS' birthday yesterday but must have eaten too many nibbles as neither of us wanted any dinner last night. I hope my defrosted chicken will keep for tomorrow as I'm out all day today and DH will be fending for himself. I'm part of the entertainment at a Care Home and then I'm going to a music session that I've organised in a pub in Wendover. A friend is hosting me for a couple of hours in between so I can have a cup of tea and get changed.
DH wants to get a new electric blanket so I'm leaving him to sort that out as I'm quite happy with our current one. I suppose it can go on the spare bed if he ends up buying a new one.
Hope all goes well for everyone.

As the song says - What a difference a day makes! Our snow has completely gone, it's cloudy, windy and wet but much milder.
Yesterday was a gentle pottering day and I suspect today will be much the same. One thing I did do was to lengthen a ribbed cuff on a hand knitted jumper. How on earth I managed to get them different lengths is beyond me, it must have been brain fog. And the worst part is that I'd worn it several times before I noticed!
Tea yesterday was beef in black bean sauce with egg fried rice followed by syrup sponge pudding. Both surprisingly good for MW ready meals although I'll not be making a habit of it. For today I've defrosted some cooked sliced chicken that I'll have with mash, carrots and sprouts.
Did you find your bootie slippers @nannywindow?
Hope your throat is a bit better today @RedRuby
Good to hear the bride's day wasn't ruined @TA
Fingers crossed today's craft fair goes better @AA
@remmie - No, it's not ungrateful at all but old habits die hard. I'd far rather have their company than a present.
I remember the lametta @Gers. And our German teacher teaching us the words to O Tannenbnbaum.
Hope hubby isn't quite as stiff today @IzzyBee.
Bad luck about the stove @camelot. Enjoy the panto.
Nothing else to report so I'll sign off and wish everyone a peaceful day. XBe kind to others and to yourself too.12 -
Morning all
Still very windy here but much more mild we are due more rain later I think. I have a wash on the go but that will have to be hung on the airer.
I have a leg of lamb to roast for dinner later a rare treat for us as it’s so expensive but I got it 1/2 price when sainsbugs had the offer on I will make a cauli cheese and some honey roasted carrots and roasties to go with it.
My sore throat has turned into a chesty cough now so I won’t be venturing far today maybe just get the dogs out for a quick walk when OH takes his dad to see his mum.
Remmie I was going to say an experience rather than a gift a meal out or a night away would be lovely xx
Have good days all and take care xx11 -
Morning all, well we survived a very stormy night although Mr Fix It was out clearing the down pipe drains at 6am as we had a 3 ins deep river outside both front and back doors. Thank goodness we live half way up a mountain as there's a lot of flooding around and it runs further down the valley but the low lying boating lake and the road to the fire station are flooded ! I hope our caravan is not floating as it's stored near a river. I'm afraid it will have to look after itself today as it's still raining, however it's not coming down so hard now and the wind has dropped.
We're having a strange Sunday lunch today as we both fancied faggots and peas so that'll go on in the slow cooker in a mo.
Remmie we're in the same boat as you re the presents. In the past DD has paid for us to go on a hotel stay, afternoon tea and a theatre trip (not all in the same year) whereas I'm happy with a book, smellies and some chocs but I get that as well ! I too wish she would spend it on herself or the DGC.
Camelot boo to the fire breakage, hope the sweep can fix it.
Yorkslass yes I did find them thankyou but the messy elf had made too much mess so I'll have to sort the bottom of the wardrobe better today. Who knows what other goodies I'll find. Well done on altering the jumper, perhaps your one arm had grown longer than the other🤣
RedRuby do you have spare space for lunch ? I won't take up much room and I love roast lamb , mmmm.
I hope everybody has survived the storm/weather without much damage. Take care all.
nan xx
Failure is simply the opportunity to begin again, but this time more intelligently12 -
Just chipping into the gifts chat. When I was a youngster my DM used to say the greatest gift you can give someone is your time. Way back then I thought what a silly gift to give someone but the older I got the more I realised how true it was. Am in full agreement with you YL. Xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"11

Afternoon everyone
It's lovely and sunny here and quite mild - I have my bedding out on the line as it is quite windy, it's meant to get worse later and be very windy tomorrow too. Little one stayed last night - DD picked her up about 10.30, they were driving to the metrocentre for lunch, then near York to stay in a Premier Inn then they'll go to Butlins tomorrow. Little one was bursting with excitement this morning - we all have our fingers crossed that she stays well for the next week. There's a group of 15 of them going, so more children for her to play with, hopefully they'll have a great time.
She arrived about 10am yesterday - yes Izzy it was snowing when she arrived and she was so excited, but it soon turned to rain and there was a gale blowing all day. We spent the day inside in the warm, in fact little one was in her fluffy pyjamas all day. Lots of crafting, lego building, reading etc - it was a lovely day. Oh and I had seen on schools' newsletter that little one had won a Super Work award in assembly for her story about a passenger on the Titanic - she informed me that she pretended that I was the passenger, she said 'I'm afraid you died granny, there wasn't enough lifeboats.' 'It's ok though I wrote that you were in first class so at least you had a nice time before you drowned.'
I went down to mam and dads after she left and replied to eldest DD's email to her grandad, she's in Brighton for the weekend with friends she shared a house with in Leeds when she was at university. I'll be getting comfy with my Sunday Times soon, but first I'm going to do a quick tidy in the garden - there's some dead plants could go in the bin before it's emptied on Tuesday.
Hope everyone has a good day x12 -

What a lovely cute and funny story! Your little one is so sharp and clearly very clever.
