Thanks for starting the thread @ScarletRibbons
Yesterday felt quite productive - took DMum to do some shopping , just one shop but it quelled her panic about Christmas shopping with a few bits bought. Managed a walk and some chores. Then an afternoon of craft work.Made a loaf of bread in between too. The bread maker blew up last week ( it was old) and I decided that for the use it gets (2-3times a month) it wasn’t worth a new one and I’d hand make for a while - quite enjoyed it. And we have regained some worktop space which is a bonus.A few garden things to sort today ahead of the impending cold weather plus some more wood to cut to make some more happy snowmen!Hope everyone has a good Sunday

Now back.
Allie, your snowmen are lovely, what a great idea!
Rosy red you were asking a day or two how I'm getting on with card making - I'm not doing very well. I got some things out, and shuffled them about but didn't actually make anything. I will though, because I really want to do it. I like making
things.
It's not a bad morning, I'll go shopping later.
We weren't out yesterday, just pottered round the house.
Hope everyone has a good day, take care folks.15 -
Morning All
Thanks for the start Scarlet, I didn't go out yesterday either!
It's dry but cold here, there's washing on the line, not expecting it to dry very much but it will get a good airing. Yesterday was a mix of grey and showers.
I got the TV set up and my friends took the old one for their DD. Also finished a little cardigan for the little one, I pressed it this morning when I did the ironing.
Good to see you Yorklass but sorry you lost your OH.
Lovely snowmen Allie.
Off to ikea in a bit to look at chairs, wish me luck!
Take care. XX13 -
Morning all - thanks to @Scarlet for the start. It feels frosty even though it's not.Yesterday was fine, I climbed on board the bus and then a friend got on, she sat beside me and we had a lovely natter all the way back. Think we entertained the driver too - we were in the front seats behind and to the side of him. The regular drivers are lovely so they are always welcome to join in. An old Glasgow open decked city tour bus was parked in Inveraray, most odd. It was heading to Campbeltown to lead the parade to switch on the Christmas lights. Seems that it's banned from Glasgow now as it's not LEZ compliant. Ah well, it's good to see it being to some little use.I enjoy Strictly last night and have an inkling of who is in the DO zone. Having extra dancers always makes for a great show. Then I watched the first part of Moonflower Murders before realising that there was a second part after the news - that got recorded and will be watched today at some point.Today I have got some defrosted Cranston sausages in the oven, this is a bid to use up some long frozen food. I'm off to meet up with some friends later in the morning and then in the afternoon I'll make a new supply of soup, though I may just use a bottle of the lovely M&S tomato soup I have in my stores (along with four others!).@AA - such cheerful wooden snowmen, they look good.Keep warm everyone, those who are poorly especially.13

Morning all from dull and cool Mehefinland
Got to clear some the garden pots etc today before the chaos come tomorrow to decimated the laylandii hedge. I will be sad to see it go, but it is too much for me to manage on my own, and disposing of the clippings etc is a nightmare. The NDN are quite happy ( I thought I should tell them) as they are also finding the garden more of a challenge since recent diagnosis of Parkinsons and like me, getting older.
Had a long on line convo with Dawns' cuz on the Gold Coast - first time we had tried a video call and although a little laggy on times was really lovely to see and hear her. She had a no fault accident last weekend when someone fell off a barstool and landed on her. Leg broken in 2 places!! She is plated and all strapped up, and extremely frustrated as she is a social animal and is confined to base for the next 6 weeks, although knowing her she will find a way!
Anguished text from friend Hele after her new horse had dumped her on the floor twice. Needs a martingale and did I have one. Of course! In the cupboard of doom gathering dust and mould. Found one and gave it a quick wipedown but it really needs a good clean and oiling. The leather is going a little hard - one of the downfalls of central heated houses as it dries out the leather over time. She can have it and try out to see if it helps, then knowing her she will buy one herself. Her OH says he has never seen so many parcels arriving at the house. I told him he was now officially a horse widowerI have told her to check with me before buying anything new- there is so much stuff here after 40+ years of horse ownership and very often its a case of finding what works or doesn't as each animal is different.
Being flooded with invites for meals out at the moment, most of which I graciously ( I hope) decline, as I don't really feel like company. Saying that, my good friends who check on me every day have taken the tack of not asking but telling me in the nicest way that I am coming to them. It is difficult to refuse, and I don't want to appear ungrateful BUT there are occasions when I just want to be alone. A nice problem to have I know.
Hugs and spoons as always

Morning folks and thanks SCARLET. Profuse apologies for not posting for a few days. I have no excuse other than I have felt down in the dumps and even boring myself with my same old same old waffle. Must do better.
It's a lovely but nippy start here but worse is to come according the weathermen who keep bandying the S word about. It seems we are in the line of fire tomorrow evening. The excitement of today is the supermarket sweep with DS. After that I will probably just end up slothing around - is that even a word?
My lack of enthusiasm over the C word has been getting me down so Friday evening I donned my festive hat and did a trawl of a few websites. I ordered a few gifts from M & S to add to the stuff I got last week. Then yesterday I sallied forth early doors and got the bus to Skipton. I got there before some of the stallholders had set up. A few more bits caught my eye to add to my stash. When I got back into the bus station the Ilkley bus was just loading so I thought why not, I had nothing to rush back for. And it's a nice scenic run too. My only port of call was M & S Food for a few bits. But crikey I have never seen it so busy. Only 2 manned check outs operating so long queues for them as well as the do it yourself ones which I don't like using. There was much chuntering going on.
Have a good day folks if you can and ((HUGS)) for our poorlies, sad or lonely. Welcome back YORKSLASS but so sorry to read about your loss. Sadly our little bereavement group on here is growing. It's now 6 years since I lost my lovely DH but still miss him every day. Take care all and stay safe xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"12 -
Morning...Not feeling too great still, got two more days of steroids to take, can't face the hospital on a weekend so will probably go tomorrow morning first thing. Cakes five and six to make today, Apart from the mixing part which I need a washing up bowl for and an extra sturdy spoon [ my grandmothers old polenta spoon] , they're quite easy, whack them in the oven and sit down for five hours... I put a pot rost beef thing in the oven after yesterdays so that's the next few days food in one form or another. Roasties and sprouts with it today. Otherwise, nothing happening here..the chippie didn't turn up yesteray to fit the bathroom door so we're still making do with the sheet
We were supposed ot be going on a trip to the Christmas Markets again this year [ delayed from last year] but that's been cancelled so I've asked for my money back, it can go to something else. I'm a bit disappointed but to be honest, health wise, probably not a good idea to go gallivanting around the place right now.
Allie, love your snowmen, very professional looking! You definitely know what you're doingnanny, sorry your dad is still intent on booking his charabanc ride, shame it's being delayed...Gers, glad you had a nice time, I am laughing at you nattering on the bus with the drivers too..any trip I have is usually finished with Thanks drive, and nothing else..snoozer, how pants for you, but fingers crossed this one goes properly. Scarlet, get and make some cards....
mehefin, I'm with them..you're alone most of the time anyway, so statistically, an hour or two isn't much, don't you go sinking into a mire...TA, it cetainly is a word now
Put up some twinkly lights, they never fail to cheer me [ but then, i haven't done that yet so what do I know?] and embrace the glowyness [also not a word
] camelot, well done on finishing the cardi! yorkslass err...not a lot done? I think that's quite a list! Right, I'm off to play Hearthstone, take care y'all [ poorlies, do nothing!]

Good morning all and thanks for the start @ScarletRibbons x
I had a haircut yesterday then we spent most of the day packing up the kitchen and defrosting the built in freezer. DH had the added bonus of another tip run. We were invited out for drinks at a friends' house in the evening, I stuck to tea as needed a clear head for today's house clean!
Great crafting @AlwaysAllie
I haven't really thought about the C word @TravellingAbuela so will need to get my skates on once we are in the house and I have a break from work.
Have a good day all

AA love the little snowmen Coxy keep plodding on you will get there it’s hard work moving house . Mehefin you will probably be pleased you made the effort it’s just taking the first step and if it’s only for a couple of hours it might help you sound as if you have some good friends. Gers I’m another who enjoyed strictly I think it’s been the best year yet but I probably say that every year TA my whole life sounds like that I seem as if I’m in a rut lately I could go into hibernation the way I feel and be happy about it scarlet I’ve never been out of the house all weekend but I’m meeting my friend tomorrow for a coffee and a natter welcome back Yorkslass sorry for your loss . I’m going to have to get off my backside and get moving I have some veg to prepare but all housework was done yesterday I can always find some more but I don’t think I will go looking for it . Morning all, just had a catch up of yesterdays thread- can't remember who said what though, sorry! Bits might come back to me
. Mixed weather here, raining at the mo, but there was a rainbow when I took pooch out.
After DGS football match yesterday we called in the big MrT close by so MrRR could stock up on wine with the 25% off.Sadly it didn't include his favourite so he's now looking at other s markets. I did get a beef joint and a pork one too, one of which will be cooked for later, other destined for the freezer.Scarlet, yes I think I've nearly finished my card production now, over 50 so that'll do, I can always get a pack from the hospice shop if need be. I have enjoyed it though, sat in front of the tv with a little table and lap tray! It's the getting started that's sometimes the problem!Taff, I hope you're feeling better soon, shame about the Christmas Markets trip.AA- love the snowmen!Derek, hope Hele wasn't hurt when she came off the horseRemmie, hope your DGD will be ok, ours has had a few problems since starting in Y8 but for now seems to be ok - her Maths teacher who she previously wasn't keen on has reached out to her, sat next to her to help her through some work etc. so she feels more positive about that. Her mum was having probs with her partner too, which was unsettling so she was staying with DS most of the time, but again that seems to have calmed, fingers crossed.TA, hope your low mood goes away soon.Right better get this meat ready to go in and prep some roasties. I saw an article saying W'spoons C Dinner is around a tenner, & quite good but someone said it doesn't include them , only mash.Hope you all have a good Sunday- hugs to those in need X
