Hi all, I'm currently sitting out my 12 weeks garden leave after a traumatic redundancy after 28 years at the same company and now find the coal fire on all day is working out at £42 a week. There is no gas as we live in a old weavers cottage on the moors with spring water. Just wondering if there is any help or grants for…

Hello everyone, I'm new to this site and need some advice re British Gas. My elderly parents are on a service plan with British Gas. They've had it serviced today and the engineer has told them they need a new boiler because it is not very efficient. Apparently it 'needs replacing' and this will also involve new pipe work…

Storage heater & E7
Hi all👋 I'm currently using a storage heater wired in to the wall that is meant to be running on E7. I noticed this morning that the storage heater didn't switch off at the wall until 8:44AM (Also heard the metre click at the same time) Does this mean I'll be paying higher rate electricity from 7-8:45? Or because the metre…

Underfloor heating - experiences please
Hi - thinking of buying this https://www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sale/property-97340894.html but have no experience of u/f heating. Expensive? long time to feel the effect? Things to go wrong? Would this be gas/wet, or electric (is there such a thing?). Surely a problem as you have to heat the tiles first, the ground…

Electricaire R10 vs electric rads
Hi I’ve posted here a couple of times regarding my 70’s Econmy 10 warm air system and have had a quote of £2400 for six modern electric rads with WiFi hub. I would like to update my heating but have no gas and don’t particularly want to go oil/wet system due to space and installation cost. I know electric rads aren’t…

Calculating cost of LPG gas used from tank using meter reading
We have a large gas tank in the garden which delivers gas to 4 metres points. Two of the small cottages were new builds and had zero readings. I have a meter reading (new meter, set in m3) which has a reading of 361906. If our gas costs us 46p per litre plus VAT delivered, how on earth do I work out the cost of the…

Hi I have 1970’s electric warm air heating in my three bed semi detached property, that I’m looking to update. 24/7 home rescue, stay away, {Edited by Forum Team}, utterly {Edited by Forum Team}
Very disappointed with their services. I moved a couple of properties from British gas over to 24/7 home rescue recently, one of my properties had an issue with the boiler and the last service was about 14 months ago, so I was not covered as they require the boiler services every 12 months, no problem I asked them to…

Gas capped off since last Friday
I took out a new gas and central heating policy recently and last Friday (23/11/18) an engineer came out to service the boiler to check everything was ok before my policy could start. The engineer discovered a problem, said it was dangerous and capped the gas off. He said he had to bring me paperwork to sign, that he'd be…

Switching energy supplier without penalty
Hello, lovely people. Just a quick question. I am desperate to switch from E.ON and my current tariff with them ends on 30 October. Is it true that am allowed to switch now without being penalised to the tune of £30 per fuel because I'm within the 49 day period prior to the tariff end date? Many thanks, in advance.
