Changing from oil to gas central heating.
Hi all, First off, I apologise if there are several topics on this. I’m not a frequent MSE website user. Due to varying factors, we may have to look at switching our central heating from oil to gas. Has anyone done this recently, and what was the cost? I’m unsure how much work would be involved, and the cost of it all!…

Latest Flogas Contract
My first post here.I was a reasonably happy customer of Countrywide LPG until they went out of business after selling their LPG arm to Flogas. Last Autumn I got a letter from Flogas increasing the LPG price by more than I was happy with, so shopped around and found a very good deal offered by Calor. As soon as Flogas got…

Can anyone please help me to understand how you set a 'timed' metre. I dont use a lot of water as my shower heats up the water as does my washing machine, i think! If I just use the 'boost' button on the metre every day for an hour will the water in the tank be safe from leigionella? or do you have to heat it up all night…

I have no doubt that similar questions have been raised on this subject, but I am wondering where I stand with my situation.I moved into my property in March and immediately applied via Uswitch to change my energy supplier away from eon, as I have had bad experiences with them in the past. The date for switching was given…

British Gas boiler cover scam
I had British Gas dual fuel contract for year 19/20 through MSE energy club because it offered free boiler cover for 12 months. the transfer from EDF was seamless, and I duly received cashback from MSE. At the end of the contract, (April 20), I used MSE again for comparison, and opted for BG again because the tariffs were…

Managing multifuel stove that heats water and radiators - but no other heating.
Would be grateful for advice on the best way to manage the above. At present I have a multifuel stove which doesn't do rads or water but I also have oil central heating (and an immersion heater). The house I'm moving to (rented) has just a multifuel stove for water and heating (plus immersion). So if I come home after a…

Shell Energy ... unimpressed so far
Started a switch at the weekend as they seemed best from the Cheap Energy club.Monday, I got an email from them confirming my expected annual cost would be £255, but when I went into the account they said they were going to be taking £30 per month to cover this. Isn't 12*£30 £360 rather than £255? (£255/12 = £21 to £22…

Avro Energy - poor customer service
I started a switch to this company. The Direct Debit failed. I don't know why. But rather than contact me to tell me this had happened and organise a different payment they simply ended the switch and then couldn't undo it. The head of finance could do nothing to help and wouldn't give her surname when asked to report this…

Storage heaters vs electric radiators, or mixture of both
Hi, I live in a small flat (owned) which only has electricity on Economy 7. I need to replace at least one of the three storage heaters but am wondering if this is the way forward for me. Charging for Gas Meter replacement
I have been contacted by British Gas to say that the Gas Meter needs replacing as it is "End of Life". When I asked for a non-Smart Meter, they wanted to charge £125 for this. When I asked why, they said that they have specialist Engineers who can repair the "old" style Meters and it is costly for them to "train" these…
