E.on and past due credit solutions
Hi, I received a letter over the weekend from past due credit solutions relating to a £560 fee owed to eon. It was from when I was at a property with my ex partner over 2 years ago with eon stating I owe them this money for electric used over an 18 month period. I can't for the life of me remember who my previous energy…

My switch over from EDF to Octopus went through hassle free. EDF has refunded me and close my account. Shall I cancel my next direct debit with EDF now or leave it for EDF to cancel? Thanks

Rung E.on, told there is not them/no account, can I get the serial number?, told them I dont know where it is (months later turned out its behind block of flats and locked…

Terminating an energy contract
I've been reading the thread from Sep 2012 entitled "How to get meters removed and supplies capped?" with interest. (As a new user I'm not allowed to post links). It reflects my own experience so far with Green Star energy. I have a three year fixed term contract with Green Star for my house and attached flat that comes to…

Any reason not to have a smart meter as nPower are virtually forcing them on us
I received a message a few weeks ago from nPower saying, "Meter Safety It's time for your meter to have a safety inspection, as the last check was done on 01/08/2016. Every meter has to be checked at least once every two years to make sure it's safe to use. You don't need to do anything at the moment; we'll get one of our…

Can replacing old storage heaters with new, efficient electric heaters improve the EPC?
Hi, We've just bought a property with an EPC rating of F33, which we need to bring up to an E. Under both 'main heating, room heaters, electric' and 'hot water, electric immersion' the energy efficiency rating is very poor. We've toyed with the idea of getting gas central heating put in, but this will cost a lot of money…

Just got a bizzare email from EDF
Honestly just baffled here. I just got an email from EDF energy saying that I have outstanding bills at an address from the years 2011 - 2013. Apparently I was sent a final bill in July 2013, but have only got round to sending me an email today. A few problems with this though; The letter is headed as "Mrs". I've never…

Fixed or Variable - Cheap Energy Club (Outfox the market) ?
Hi, I just used the MSE Cheap Energy Club guide and it shows a load of companies to consider. The top - cheapest - one is something called Outfox the Market which appears to be a variable price. I assume that means the prices could go up whenever they chose to increase them? Apologies for being a numpty but I thought the…

Can I save money on my electricity? Economy 7
Evening All, Quick bit of info: Myself & my partner live in a 2 bed flat in Bristol. Purpose built apartment building (1980's), medium to good insulation. Second of four floors. Economy 7 storage heaters, replaced in 2016 for some slightly more efficient ones, these are used on a medium setting in the winter with output…

British Gas Smart meter
Just wondering if anyone knew what could be the issue before I call them. My direct debit has shot up to ten times what I've actual used. I thought it might have been an underpayment from the other months but it has taken the same amount again. Any idea why the Smart meter isn't being read for electricity - it's fine for…

Advice re. Economy 7 (should I ditch it?)
Hi My flat currently has an Economy 7 supply. The hot water cylinder has 2 elements, and it appears the lower one comes on when the E7 rate kicks in. The upper one is, I assume, boost ..? The living room, main bedroom and passageway have storage heaters. The second bedroom (my study) has an electric panel heater. I'm…

I think I am reading my Smart electricity meter wrong
The reason I believe I am reading my meter incorrectly is because (in a nutshell); Previous provider Npower used the outgoing tenant's meter reading of 2302 to estimate my opening meter reading on 8 March 2018. I have no photographic evidence of the meter reading this number, but when I took a picture two weeks later on 23…

Eon
okay so I've just had my 6 month review from eon electricity and it turns out I've accrued a debt of £240 related to high usage during the cold months. They have now put in a payment plan for me to clear this debt by December 2018 by increasing my dd payment to £66.My contract with them expires in early September 2018 so…

IRESA final bill estimation farce.
Hi. I just got my 'final bill for your energy use to August 1st 2018'. It states that I used 10,800kWh of gas for the month of July. Yeah. for my 2-up-2-down during a heatwave, with no gas used other than a shower which I turn the boiler temp down for anyway (rather than heat up then mix with cold..) Obviously I have…
