Can I be forced to have a smart meter?
Hi, I'm new here so please forgive any faux pas... but here goes. We have solar panels on the roof, which don't make us a huge amount of money; but they make us more than they would otherwise because we have an old analog meter which actually rolls backwards while the panels are generating juice. Obviously we'd like to…

Issues Post Switching- Octopus
Hello We switched to Octopus in July this year after issues with Ovo (different post). We switched from E10 (Ovo) to E7 (Octopus). We have a smart meter and were assured that switching would be simple. It hasn't been. We have encountered several issues, the main one being that we are now on an E7 tariff but our meter is…

HHR Storage Heaters instead of a heat pump
I want to retire my gas combi boiler, which is now only used for central heating in the winter months. I have no other use for gas, so I could remove my gas supply and save the daily standing charge. All the advice is 'fit a heat pump'. But I don't have much outdoor space and my wife wouldn't like the look of it. Also we…

ex Tomato Energy moving to British Gas special tariff?
Hello all, has anybody experienced issues selecting their 'special' tariff to ex Tomato Energy customers? As in my experience unit rates and standing charges which meant to be exclusive till the 5th of December are completely different once you sign up for them? Thank you.

From 1 April 2026, households in England, Scotland and Wales will see their energy bills fall by £150 a year on average, the Chancellor has confirmed in the Autumn Budget. Disconnect power or pay standingcharges
Our house is going to be empty for 3-4 months. We do not want the electricity/gas to keep running in this period as standing charges will rack up. I am inclined to get them cut off for time being. But if I get them cut off will the charge me for cutting and reconnecting after 3-4 months? Just trying to work best option.

Uswitch 25 hours free electricity
I’ve seen a promotion advertised by Uswitch offering 25 hours free electricity if you connect your smart meter. Has anyone taken part in this before as I think they may have ran something similar at Christmas? I assume the catch is they collect and sell your usage data to target you with tailored tariffs?…

EDF Smart Meter & NSH Issues
I’m having a problem with my mum’s new smart meter. EDF have replaced her old RTS complex meter with a SMETS2 smart meter, but are taking their time configuring it properly. It’s showing 2 readings, which I assume are peak and off-peak, but her NSH is coming on at odd times and looks like most of the usage is registering…

Switch into Fixed Rate
Following Martin's programme last night I checked out the Eon Next 18 month fixed rate, decided I liked it and applied direct to Eon to switch. Rather surprised to be told by Eon that although my transfer decision wasto choose Eon on the basis of that fix, I would not be guaranteed that rate and that my trransfer would be…

Ofgem faulty meter back billing rules
Earlier this year (late spring and summer) my gas smartmeter stopped working. It did not just turn into a "dumb meter" but completely stopped working. After it was replaced, I was issued with a bill for which my usage was estimated for a period of almost 2 and a half months, across three billing periods. Thinking the bill…

I want to replace it with a similar one that has that same function but I can't see it offered in any of the adverts. They all have Timers but as the say 1hr/3 hr/5 hrs etc I presume that after they are tuned…
